Source text - English The year has been marked by relatively few local titles on the big screen, with the box office results of Portuguese productions suffering the inevitable consequences. The figures are pale indeed compared to the two previous years, when films like The Crime of Father Amaro and O Filme da Treta disgusted critics but managed to attract larger audiences.
Expectations are now focused on those films opening in the last quarter of the year, which comprise quite a surprising mix of auteur titles and potential box office hits.
On September 20, independent distributor Atalanta will release Locarno entry O Capacete Dourado by Jorge Cramez, right before the October release of the new film by US writer-director Paul Auster, The Inner Life of Martin Frost (news). Luís Filipe Rocha's The Other Side, recently awarded in Montreal (news), completes Atalanta's line-up of local productions.
The three titles were produced – or co-produced, in the case of Auster's film – by Paulo Branco's Lisbon-based Clap Filmes.
On October 4, Carlos Saura's lyrical reflection on the national song hits screens (see news). Praised last Friday at its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival, Fados is expected to attract a mass of curious audiences and fans of the musical style, both locally and internationally as Latido Film has successfully sold it to over 20 territories (news).
However, the most anticipated title of the last quarter of 2007 is João Botelho's Corrupção (news). Principal photography ends this week after seven weeks of intense work and controversy, with the local media speculating on alleged death threats to the cast and pressures felt by both Botelho and his producer Alexandre Valente from Utopia Filmes (interview).
Sex, corruption and scandal are expected to turn this highly anticipated film noir into the top admissions draw of the year and leading actress Margarida Villa-Nova stands out a serious candidate for the Berlinale’s Shooting Stars 2008.

La situazione è critica, paragonata a quella dei due anni precedenti, in cui film come The Crime of Father Amaro e O Filme da Treta, seppur facendo storcere il naso dei critici, sono riusciti a riempire le sale.
Le aspettative sono ora focalizzate sulle uscite di fine anno, un mélange di film d’autore e potenziali hits da botteghino. Il 20 settembre la società indipendente Atalanta distribuirà O Capacete Dourado di Jorge Cramez, presente quest’anno a Locarno, che precede di poco l’uscita dell’opera dello statunitense Paul Auster, The Inner Life of Martin Frost (news), prevista per ottobre. Il line-up di Atalanta Filmes sarà completato dall’uscita di The Other Side di Luís Filipe Rocha, recentemente premiato a Montreal. Source text - French Après Berlin is in Germany et One Day in Europe, Hannes Stöhr (lire l' interview) continue d'ancrer son travail dans les lieux qu'il aime. Dans son nouveau projet, Berlin Calling (initialement intitulé "Ickarus"), en tournage à Berlin et Amsterdam, le jeune réalisateur s'intéresse cette fois au monde de la musique techno.
Le scénario de Berlin Calling, produit par Karsten Aurich pour la maison berlinoise Sabotage Films et soutenu par le fonds régional MBB à hauteur de 300 000 €, a été composé par Stöhr lui-même. Il raconte l'histoire d'un DJ berlinois surnommé DJ Ickarus (interprété par le DJ techno Paul Kalkbrenner, qui fait là ses premiers pas à l'écran) en tournée avec son amie et manager Mathilde (Rita Lengyel) dans les clubs du monde. Alors qu'il prépare un album et vit à cent à l'heure, comme le héros grec Icare, ses ailes se mettent à fondre : un abus de drogues le conduit tout droit à l'hôpital psychiatrique.
Ce film – également interprété par Corinna Harfouch (qu'on verra bientôt dans Im Winter ein Jahr (Aftermath), de la réalisatrice oscarisée Caroline Link) dans le rôle de la psychiatre, ainsi que Mehdi Nebbou ( -Schläfer (Sleeper), Der Lebensversicherer (Running on Empty) ou encore Erdal Yildiz (déjà présent dans One Day in Europe) – représente pour son auteur "un portrait musical du Berlin d'aujourd'hui, de l'intoxication à l'extase, de l'espoir, l'art et la démence, l'amitié et la famille, la musique et la fureur de vivre... à, naturellement, l'amour".

Un’opera che per il suo autore rappresenta “un ritratto musicale della Berlino contemporanea, dall’intossicazione all’estasi, dalla speranza, l’arte, la demenza, l’amicizia, la famiglia, la musica, dal furore di vivere... a, naturalmente, l’amore”.
