Source text - English As the Covid-19 pandemic knocked down global economies, investors are scrambling for safe haven investments. However, analysts were shocked to find the two prime candidates being the age-old investment in gold, and also the fresh, as new as it gets: cryptocurrency.
While stocks have plummeted globally, cryptocurrencies have been recovering strong after a long period of decline. Since mid-march, Bitcoin has managed to rise from just under 5250 to over 6700. However, it hasn’t yet made it back to the early February high of 10250, nor the September 2018 high, making it a downward trend with lower highs and lower lows.
Gold is showing itself as a much more consistent asset, continuing an uptrend despite massive levels of selling and volatility. Gold has rallied over halfway back to its early March high and is poised to retake it fairly soon. Felder Report investment newsletter publisher Jesse Felder stated that historically, gold prices have tended to rise when the fiscal deficit as a percent of GDP is rising, a safe bet for most investors.
However, many have stated that this collapse of economic systems and institutions is exactly what cryptocurrency needs to establish itself as the new global, decentralised currency. As governments reveal themselves to be corrupt and impacting the lives of so many, there is a call for efficiency, quality, transparency, and sustainability: blockchain technology. Perhaps this is the time to invest in a global revolution, though only time will tell for certain.
