This document is designed and written for people already experienced and knowledgeable about the 2003 version. It complements the EFQM Excellence Model brochure with the key aspects of the background and rationale behind the changes incorporated into the 2010 version, and in this way also serves as a reference document for those making the transition.

1 Purpose
1.1 This standard addresses the area of processing content with the direct intention of developing common Software Standards, so that problems involving Operator training, Operation specifications, and efficient development can be resolved more easily.

Source text - English Welcome to Time and Tide Museum at the Tower Curing Works. First, a few words about using this audio guide. As you look at some of the displays you will see a number. If you key that number into your handset you will be able to hear a commentary about the display in question. The volume control is on the right and the pause button is on the left.
This museum was formerly a herring curing factory and the earliest parts of the building date from the mid nineteenth century. It was enlarged in 1880 and, over the years, has been further modified to suit changing needs. However, its essential structure has remained unaltered. You can learn more about the building if you read the panels labelled “King Herring”. Today, as the only large scale works to survive from the late Victorian heyday of herring curing, it is a grade two listed museum site. By observing the features of the building as you go round, you will be able to gain an insight into how the factory worked. It made an important contribution to the local economy, employing many workers who possessed a great variety of skills.
In 1954 the premises was acquired by the Swanston family, who were established local fish curers in Great Yarmouth. A year later the Chaplin family moved in – mum, dad and no less than thirteen children. Some of them continued to live and work here for the next four decades.
There are many displays to enjoy and, between them, they tell the story of Great Yarmouth’s history, from the first settlers to the present day. On the way, you can experience a hazardous voyage aboard a fishing boat, enter into the drama of two World Wars and learn about the people who worked on this site and the industries that made Yarmouth the herring capital of the world.

I graduated as a Master of Arts in Audiovisual Translation at the University of Surrey last summer, following my studies at the Würzburger Dolmetscherschule in Germany, which gained me the title of state-certified interpreter and translator for English with German as my mother-tongue (corresponds to British Bachelor’s degree). I am also a publicly appointed and sworn in translator and interpreter with the Regional Court Schweinfurt (Germany) and the Higher Regional Court Bamberg (Germany).
During my postgraduate studies in Audiovisual Translation, I learnt the principles and techniques of subtitling and audio description. It was due to the close relation between audio description, a module, which I graduated with distinction, and audio-guides that the translation of audio-guides became one of my specialised subjects. Using these skills as a freelance translator for ATS Heritage, I translate English audio-guide scripts into German.
At the Würzburger Dolmetscherschule, one of the few high-ranking schools for interpreters and translators in Germany, the main focus of my training was translating scientific texts, ranging from astronomy, physics, chemistry, geology and geography to biology and medicine. Furthermore I enjoyed training for SDL TRADOS and am familiar with using it; I currently work mainly with Across.
With my company, FlashLight Translations (please visit www.flashlighttranslations.com), I specialise in translation (including scientific texts, audio-guides, IT and localisation) subtitling and audio description. I count companies, such as Asco Coburg (translations, Germany), IMS (Subtitling) and ATS Heritage (Audio Guides) as my customers.
