English to Indonesian: What is a Method?
General field: Other
Detailed field: Education / Pedagogy
Source text - English
A method is a way of doing, a tool, a catalyst, and a means of access. A method is not a time-filler, an end in itself, or a purposeless activity. As an illustration, consider a Sunday school class of five year olds.
The five year olds arrive at staggered times during the first half hour. They are free to wander about the room and play with classmates while the teacher and assistants keep order and prepare lesson materials. After most of the class has arrived, the children sit in rows, sing a few songs, and listen quietly while this week's story of "Dorcas Was Kind" is read from the curriculum. After the reading, the children are quizzed on the facts of the story. With the time remaining each learner will work on a coloring page. In this example, methods have been employed, but not applied.
