Skrivregler

Följande regler gäller för tecken i KKS-beteckningen:

• I bokstavspositioner (A) används bokstäverna A-Z som anges som versaler (stora bokstäver). Bokstäverna I och O får inte användas utom i grupp 0 (Anläggning)

• I sifferpositioner (N) används siffrorna 0-9.

• Inledande nollor skall användas för att fylla ut till angivet antal tecken

• Förtecknet = (är lika med) används för processteknisk beteckning.

• Förtecknet + (plus) används för uppställningsplatsbeteckning eller inbyggnadsbeteckning.

• Tecknet - (minus) används som första tecken (B1) i komponentbeteckningen för elektriska komponenter.

• Skiljetecknet : (kolon) används som avskiljare före mellan plintgrupp och plintnummer.

• Skiljetecknet _ (understreck) används som avskiljare mellan aggregat- och signalbeteckning samt som avskiljare mellan aggregat- och dokumentbeteckning.

• Tecknet . (punkt) används som skiljetecken mellan anläggning och system, samt mellan system och modulplats i ställverk.

Using the same reference as Deane, I read it as telling us where the component is located (which is another way of translating 'uppställningsplats') - see also top of page 28 of Birgitta Landberg's paper.
Finally "designator" sounds slightly better to me here than "designation" - see example sentence below.

I see this as a designation of 'inbyggnad', which can be mounting
