Italian term

busta cieca

Italian to English Other Paper / Paper Manufacturing
Describing an envelope, as used by banks to send PIN numbers etc, which is dark and has a strange pattern printed on it so no-one can see the contents.
"blind envelope" appears to be something different in English.
Is there a specific term for this, or should I just describe it?
Thanks

hmm, yes, I think you're right Alexander, so who do I give the points to?!
I think to Rick this time, sorry Cedric.
Alexander Cormack (X) Mar 24, 2010:
tamper-resistant security envelope? Here's a link which seems to suggest that the seal is described as "tamper-resistant" and the internal tint as "security" - perhaps both Cedric and Rick are right?

Business weight 24-lb. white wove paper 4-1/8 x 9-1/2. Premium white wove business envelopes with tamper-resistant seal and blue security tint inside.

Cedric Randolph Mar 24, 2010:
secure envelope Perhaps, but security envelopes are those that do not permit the viewing of what is inside as they have internal printed patterns, while tamper resistant envelopes, as used for pin codes from banks, are also specifically made so as to not permit their opening without this being clearly evident. However, if Anne prefers, this term, I myself cannot see any reason why she shouldn't use it.
Steven Haire Mar 24, 2010:
Wouldn't "secure envelope" be more accurate?
