Most references to this term come from the area of photography and film, where this simple translation would suffice. In the above context, however, there is the additional requirement of one half frame being the mirror image of the other.

Explanation:
Sewing directions can be worse than stereo instructions!

""Cut 1 on fold" means to fold your fabric (that bit of it) over so there are two layers. Lay the pattern so the part that says "fold" is touching the fold."

That quote is located under "other answers" about half way down the page when scrolling.

I have sewn many garments in my day and I have never run across an equivalent for Halbbild doubliert.

Apparently this has to do with cutting a pattern. You apply half of the image (Halbbild) to the fold of a double-layer material (doubliert). When you cut along the pattern you receive a perfectly symmetrical image (Ganzbild).
