Una vez más, esta expresión la usamos coloquialmente en México pero quizás se use o por lo menos se entienda en algunas otras partes de habla hispana. Dado que aquí en California hay tanta población mexicana, por supuesto también se usa por estos lares.

Así decimos también en Argentina. No necesariamente tiene registro alto, eso se ve con la entonación.
También se dice, en registro bien bajo: que alguien "tiene hormigas en el culo".
