I'm hoping someone can come up with a better definition than wooden boat, because nowadays these boats tend not to be made from wood (too expensive).
Also is there a direct English equivalent for that kind of shaped boat???

agree  Fiorsam: The Italian/English dictionary translates it as "gottso", and defines is a a Ligurian fishing boat. But I agree to leave it as gozzo.
