Explanation:
Hi Nina. The term cordolo describes a variety of building elements with different english translations. The common feature is that it is a longitudinal feature of roughly rectangular section and may be either prebabricated or in situ. Kerb (curb) or edge beam are the most common , the latter given by Neuteboom & Francescato (Dizionario tecnico dell'edilizia).
While I can't entirely discount the use of prefabricated beams for foundation repair, poured in situ ones seem more likely; these are commonly referred to as ground beams or, in UK building industry parlance, just as strip footings (unless cast integrally with a floor slab).
