The atmospheric air pressure for the operation of the altimeter is obtained >by feeding turbulent free air< from the aircraft's "piped" static air supply system. This static system senses air pressure at vents fitted on the fuselage skin of the aircraft or in the heated pressure head mounted in turbulent free area of the air surrounding the aircraft.
