The originator of each loan creates a computerized data set of information (with “tape” going back to an earlier technological level), that then can be used to examine the underlying value of the loan. The loan tape contains loan data (operation type, exposure, maturity, vintage, restructured status), guarantee data (collateral type, collateral value, and the latest appraisal date), counterparty data (legal form, identification) and the rules for linking the loan, guarantee and counterparty datasets.
