Recommendation: Please disable sharing of all drives on the machines. Only share necessary folders. This virus uses security holes in the MS WIN 9x and MS WIN ME operating systems. Please download and run the security patches that are aviable from the link below: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS00-072.asp. Disable NetBIOS protocol (including NetBIOSu through TCP/IP protocol) on all workstations or NetBIOS protocol ports on your Proxy server. Please remove binding to \"File and printer sharing\" in Bindings Tab under TCP/IP Properties for all TCP/IP protocols (the TCP/IP protocol is usually defined for every LAN or Dial-Up adapter) on all(!) computers in your LAN. The sharing itself will stay enabled - all shared resources will be accessible, but in your LAN only - not through TCP/IP protocol(Internet). This virus is detected by AVG since version 393. If it does not work, you can ask the question at http://www.computing.net/security/wwwboard/forum/3197.html Bonne chance ! ▲ Collapse

It is important to have a reliable antivirus product and also to know what variant of the virus/worm you are infected with. With Opaserv, it is also important if you are working on a standalone computer or on a computer connected in a network. Check the worm's description page on one of the major antivirus companies and look for disinfection instructions. You can also use one of the free online scanning services (http://www.ravantivirus.com/scan , for instance). Follow the instructions and you should get rid of the worm in no time... Thanks! I managed to eliminate the WORM thanks to your advices (disconnecting the network, downloading the symantec tool and running it in MS-DOS mode, and other tips). Beside, I downloaded a firewall -I don't know how to manage it yet, but I'm sure I will someday Regards, Clarisa
