español term
leyes ponderales
español al inglés
Ciencias
Química, Ciencias/Ing. quím.
I am translating a secondary level science book and this is one of the section headings. The phrase appears in the following text: "Fruto de este trabajo es el descubrimiento de una serie de leyes, las llamadas leyes ponderales, que expresan las relaciones entre las masas de reactivos y productos en una reacción química o entre las masas de elementos en un compuesto químico" and "Las leyes ponderales sentaron los fundamentos de la moderna ciencia química". I don't think there is a direct translation so any ideas how can I get round this?

laws of chemical combination
Spanish sources show that "leyes ponderales" basically refers to Lavoisier's law (conservation of mass), Proust's law (definite proportions or constant composition), Dalton's law (atomic hypothesis, multiple proportions), and Richter's law (reciprocal proportions).

These are all stoichiometric laws, but I think that is a wider category:

The term I'm mostly finding is this: laws of chemical combination, and I think that would be most suitable:
