Italian term

Bottone pulsante

Italian to English Tech/Engineering Electronics / Elect Eng Electronic components
Problem:
Distinction between: bottone and pulsante

Explanation: I am translating Italian software specifications (for a pharmaceutical company), about 96,000 words.

The Italian draws a distinction between "BOTTONE" (appears 46 times) and "PULSANTE" (appears 26 times).

Can anyone explain the difference?

Thank you!

Discussion

Nicola D'Agostino Feb 17, 2016:
Shape matters In current Italian the two words are basically interchangeable, although "bottone" is the preferred term for round buttons, because of its textile origin.

Otherwise there's no answer to this question. I would have thought they mean the same thing, but we need to see some text.
Shera Lyn Parpia Feb 17, 2016:
Is there no more context that you can share?
