ProZ.com 2015 virtual conference for International Translation Day

Sep 30, 2015

Presentation

Find direct clients and run a business that you love

You must log in before you can access most features of this event.

Schedule:This session ended at 19:55
Description:With their strategies and resources, agencies always seem to be on the winning side of the client's research process. But what businesses really need goes beyond multilingual projects, busy PMs and extra costs. Businesses come in all shapes and sizes, that's true, but all of them like to work and collaborate with skilled professionals rather than automated computers.

In this presentation we will see how to find direct clients for your translation business and create a growing portfolio of contacts.

We will see how to use social media management tools, social media, content marketing, networking and we will peek behind the scenes: where to find clients, in which way approach them and do the follow-up without sounding too pushy. We'll have a look at the right communicative approach while sharing tips & tricks.

Lovely presentation style Sep 30, 2015

Sara made many very good points and shared some very helpful personal experiences that I hope will also work for me. Either way it was nice to know that I am not the only one who is nervous when talking to clients.

Anyone interested on a webinar on gaining direct clients over the phone? Sep 30, 2015

I’ve followed some business launch and marketing courses that have taught me how to make effective direct calls (i.e. cold calls) to potential clients. This has allowed me to build a successful translation business (been freelancing since 2006) working exclusively for direct clients (over 60 such clients). This approach seems intimidating to many translators, but I’ve learned it’s mostly about practice and preparation. I’m actually thinking about creating a webinar on the topic. I’m cu... See more

I’m curious to know if this would interest anyone here.

Thanks again for this very interesting and informative webinar Sara. I believe 100% in the benefits of working for direct clients and this course taught me some useful new ideas.

I would be very much interested. I've been making a few "cold calls" lately and find it very challenging.

Getting through to the right person... Oct 2, 2015

... i.e. the actual translation buyer within the company can already be somewhat of a challenge, yet there's no way to get anywhere near an order without this essential first step.

So, we'll be watching this space, CCharbonneau (couldn't see your first name on your profile...)!
