Source text - English Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most aggressive form of glioma and, despite recent advances, the prognosis remains bleak. The current standard of care for GBM is safe surgical resection. Following surgery, the combination of radiotherapy (RT) with temozolomide followed by adjuvant therapy with temozolomide was shown to be significantly, albeit slightly, better than RT in only one Phase 3 clinical trial conducted under the auspices of the European and Cancer Treatment and the National Cancer Institute of Canada. The median overall survival in the chemotherapy-radiotherapy arm was 18.6 months, compared with 15 months in the RT arm. Perhaps most importantly, however, the proportion of patients alive at 2 years increased from about 15% to about 33%. In a follow-up publication, it was reported that the 5-year survival rate was 7.9% in the temozolomide group receiving concomitant radiotherapy and maintenance therapy and 2.7% in the radiotherapy-only group. The survival of patients receiving adjuvant therapy with temozolomide along with radiotherapy for glioblastoma was higher than with radiotherapy alone, in all subgroups of clinical prognosis. Several subsequent studies have further confirmed the beneficial effects of temozolomide therapy when co-administered with radiotherapy and as maintenance therapy. Until 2002, radiotherapy surgery was the cornerstone of GBM therapy in China. This situation was supported in those years in China by some published reports on the effectiveness of radiation after surgery to control residual disease, prolong survival and improve symptoms, despite clear signs of rapid disease progression after surgery and radiotherapy and the recurrence of malignant gliomas almost universally. During this period, the possible effectiveness of chemotherapy in China was generally ignored.

Η τρέχουσα συνήθης πρακτική φροντίδας για το GBM είναι η ασφαλής χειρουργική εκτομή. I graduated from the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and
Interpreting in 2004.
For the last 18 years, I have been doing the
job I love: translating medical, pharmaceutical, legal, financial and technical
texts from English and French to Greek.
The volume of words I have translated, which
exceeds 10 million words, is not as important as my motivation to engage in
this profession. Driven by studiousnessand inquisitivenessas well as an interest in foreign languages, I believe that having the opportunity
to offer the gift of communication is a unique experience and entails a huge
responsibility.
I lived in France for 10 years, where I
