Translating from
Arabic into Dutch is the core of my services I obtained my MA Arabic Culture
& Language at the University of Amsterdam in 2009, and attended an
Arabic-Dutch Legal Translation Education at the SIGV in Utrecht (Foundation
Court Interpreters and Translators Institute) in 2011. During my career, I’ve
translated mainly general and legal, but also many commercial documents at
different translation agencies, such as contracts, diploma’s, lists of grades,
general terms & conditions, marketing leaflets and websites. I also worked
as an Arabic Language Specialist for various clients. Since June 2019, I have
been working on a translation of a literary novel by a Tunisian author, from
Modern Standard Arabic into Dutch.

I also offer
translations of general and commercial/marketing texts from French and English
into Dutch. In my last position as a project manager and translator, I’ve
regularly translated (commercial/marketing) texts from these two source
languages into Dutch, and also acted as French Language Specialist for my
clients. I attended an intensive French language acquisition course in
Aix-en-Provence, France, and over the last seven years I gained much experience
in quality management of translation projects with a large French and/or
English language component.

More about me (background & experience)

I have been
working in the translation field since 2009, in which I held several different
positions, ranging from in-house translator in the aforementioned language
combinations, to project and sales manager of complex multi-language
translation projects, and general manager at a middle-sized translation agency,
as well as related positions such as service quality manager (ISO) and board
member of a trade association. I am working on a Dutch translation of an Arabic
novel since June 2018, since October 2019, I am offering my services as a
freelance translator.

I have my own
memoQ license, and much experience with other CAT tools such as Trados, as well
as translation management systems such as XTRF. Working with a CAT tool is
indispensable, in my view, to produce professional translations, as it allows
for integrating quality enhancing elements such as QA checks, translation
memories and term bases in the process I like being versatile in what I do, and
prefer to take care of your project from beginning to end, tackling both
quality management of the translation(s) as well as project and sales
management for your clients. Aside from my own expertise and knowledge of the
field, I have a broad network and the right educations to be able to provide
you with this.

Please don't hesitate to contact me for a quotation or any questions you might have!

Kind Regards,

Karine Dekker
