I am a translator. A language lover and a language expert. I was born and grew up in Italy; I have read in English, Spanish and French since I was a child; I have spent most of my adult life in the UK, where I completed my studies and started my career in languages and translation. I have used English, Italian, Spanish and French at work simultaneously, every day. I hold a BA in History, a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical, Legal/Commercial and Web Translation and a I have taken the Unit 01 (Written Translation of a General Text) of the IoLET Diploma in Translation at the Chartered Institute of Linguistics. When I translate, I aim to capture the feeling of one language and convey the same in the other; I listen to the writer and I picture the target audience; I extract the context and I seize the cultural and social hues; I break down the text, into paragraphs, sentences, words, I turn them upside down and inside out. I savour the grammar, I taste the syntax, I inhale the lexicon, I breathe in the semantics; I repeat the same in the target language; I read, re-read and proofread; when complete, my translated work has a spirit of its own.
