Source text - Spanish Los maullidos de un gato pueden tener diversos significados, dependiendo del contexto en el que el animal se encuentre y de lo que quiera expresar a su tutor u a otros individuos (humanos o felinos). Para interpretar cada maullido, es esencial conocer el lenguaje corporal de los gatos, ya que la vocalización vendrá acompañada de ciertas posturas y expresiones faciales que "revelarán" qué siente en ese momento. Además, también debemos estar atentos al tono, a la intensidad y a la frecuencia. En líneas generales, cuanto más fuerte, intenso y frecuente es el maullido, más urgente e importante es el mensaje que el felino desea transmitir.
Por ejemplo, un gato agresivo emitirá maullidos fuertes e intensos, posiblemente intercalados con bufidos, y adoptará una postura defensiva que anuncia un posible ataque (como la cola erizada y esponjosa, con pelos erizados, y orejas hacia atrás). Por otro lado, un minino que maúlla para anunciar que tiene hambre, mantendrá un patrón de maullido prolongado, además de localizarse cerca de su comedero, perseguir a su propietario o cerca del lugar donde suele almacenar la comida su tutor.

Il miagolio del gatto può avere diversi significati, a seconda del contesto in cui si trova l’animale e di ciò che vuole comunicare al suo padrone o ad altri individui (umani e felini). Per riuscire ad interpretare i diversi miagolii è fondamentale la conoscenza del linguaggio corporeo dei gatti, poiché dalle posture e dalle espressioni facciali che accompagnano la vocalizzazione sarà possibile interpretare ciò che il gatto prova in un determinato momento. Inoltre, dobbiamo fare attenzione al tono, all’intensità e alla frequenza. Generalmente, quanto più il miagolio è forte, intenso e frequente, tanto più il messaggio che il felino vuole comunicare sarà impellente e rilevante.
Per esempio, un gatto aggressivo emetterà miagolii forti e intensi, talvolta alterni a sbuffate, e adotterà una postura difensiva ad annunciare un possibile attacco (come la coda raddrizzata, i peli ritti e le orecchie indietro).
D’altro canto, un piccolo che miagola per annunciare che ha fame emetterà un miagolio prolungato, oltre a posizionarsi nelle vicinanze della sua ciotola, seguire il suo proprietario o recarsi dove quest’ultimo conserva il suo cibo.
Quando vanno in calore, le gatte non sterilizzate o castrate emettono miagolii acuti, dal tono elevato e in maniera insistente. Source text - English Born 1933, Ankara, Gencay began her studies at the tender age of three. Her art teacher had her pose in class as a model. In fair weather it was the custom of the class to go outdoors with a view to enabling the future students of art to try their hands at drawing landscapes. Gencay’s color coding, range, combination and scheme date back to those years.
She graduated from primary school in 1944, and from high school in 1947. During her final year at the high school, one of her paintings selected among the first twenty was displayed at the nation wide exhibition of the Faculty of Letters of Ankara, which had earned her the reward of a scholarship as boarding student for seven years at Gazi University; however, she had to decline the offer upon her father’s antagonistic approach to the idea and had to enroll at the Istanbul Lycee for Girls from which she graduated in 1950 to matriculate in the Academy of Fine Arts. Having obtained her degree with honors in 1965 from the said establishment, she settled in Ankara where she opened her first solo exhibition in 1957. In the meantime she followed the courses in classical archeology of Prof. Ekrem Akurgal.
In 1959, she went to Florence on a scholarship awarded to her by the Italian Government where she studied fresco and mosaic art under Prof. Collacichi. She was in 1960 in Rome where she established her own studio. She provided for a short while books and periodicals with pictures for such publishing houses as Mondadori and Vallechi. She designed the cover for “Barka D’Noe” book of Gianna Manzini at the Mondadori Publishing House.
Meanwhile, she attended to the studio of Japanese Artist Nobuya Abe together with Serbian Artist Mira Brtka and Milena Cubrakovic. After very short time, this studio was soon to evolve into the haunt of collectors and contemporary artist. This period marks the transition Period of Gencay’s paintings.
Her first solo exhibition outside Turkey was in Fondazione Ernesto Besso in Rome. She was invited to take part in art competition of Rome, Avezzano and Gubbio. She was one of the participants in the exhibition organized in Galleria Rotta in Geneva. She opened an exhibition along with other Turkish artists in Galleria d’Arte del Palazzo della Esposizione. She got a Second Prize in International Premio Gubbio Painting Competition. In 1961 she won a First Prize in the International Premio Gubbio Drawing Competition and was invited to Premio Europa in Ascona.
In 1962 he met Carlo Cardazzo in Venice and opened a solo exhibition in Gallerio Cavallino. In Milan her works were displayed side by side with the paintings of Abe, Colombo, Mondrian, Picasso, Twombly and Fontana. She was invited to take part in the Mostra dei Contrasti exhibition.
In 1963 she organized her solo exhibition in the Gallery La Salita of Liverani. She joined the group Rotella, Dorazio, Consagra, Conte, Gia Pommodoro, Castellani and Fontana. In 1964 she participated in Mostra Mercato Nazionale at Palazzo Strozzi in Florence. In 1964-1965 her works were selected to be exhibited at the IV-V Rassegna d’Arte Figurativa Roma e del Lazio organized in Palazzo della Esposizione in Rome. During the same period she was invited to take part in the congress at Rimini of Convegna Internazionale Artisti Critici d’Arte as Turkish Artist. In 1964 she was among the 33 artists invited from Italy along with Abe, Carla Accardi, Pietro Consagra, Novelli, Dorazio which took place at Côte d’Azur, to the Deuxième Festival des Arts Plastiques de la Côte d’azur. The same year she opened an exhibition at the Scorpio Gallery in Rome with Mira Britka and Frankini . In 1966 her works were displayed along with Abe, Fontana, Uecker, Burri, Afro, Arp, Kandinsky, Chagall, Braque in the gallery Il Segnıo in Rome and was invited to take part in the exhibition of Zero Avantgarde. In 1966 she was back home, She had to interrupt her international links due to Turkey’s internal economic and political conditions. She married Abdullah Kasapçı.
In 1963 – 68 she made big wall paintings produced by ceramics and mosaics for the Faculty of Architecture of the Middle East Technical University and the Kızılay Branches of Ziraat Bank and Şekerbank in Ankara. Also, she produced and made artworks for the Etap Marmara and Divan Hotels in İstanbul and the İş Bank Headquarters in Ankara by using the glass evil eye beads with different techniques created by her. Unfortunately, except for her work at the Department of Architecture mentioned above, the whereabouts of these works cannot be traced. She acted as consultant and director to the Vakko Art Gallery in Ankara in which she enabled many a young talent to make a name.
In 1983 she established the art gallery Mi-Ge. The years 1994-1995 saw her monumental works ‘Liberty’ and ‘Orange Tree’. She was the Art Adviser of the Galeri Replika in Istanbul. Gencay is the first artist that made use of glass beads in her artistic productions. The multicolored glass beads that she had kilns manufacture for her contributed to the enhancement of her art. The table she produced using beads in 1958 was purchased by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to be displayed at the Turkish Stand in the Brussels Fair. The same artwork which she produced for the hotel Divan disappeared during the restoration work of the hotel. Today a good many people are engaged in the production of beads exported abroad. Gencay’s works illustrate today the postcards of UNICEF, TEMA and TAP.

Finisce la scuola elementare nel 1944 e quella superiore nel 1947. Nel suo ultimo anno di scuola superiore uno dei suoi dipinti viene selezionato tra i primi venti per essere esposto alla mostra nazionale della facoltà di Lettere di Ankara: è così che vince una borsa di studio con vitto e alloggio per sette anni all’Università di Gazi. Tuttavia, è costretta a rifiutare a causa del disaccordo del padre; si iscrive all’istituto femminile di Istanbul, che termina nel 1950, per poi immatricolarsi all’Accademia di Belle Arti. Qui si laurea con lode nel 1965 e si stabilisce poi ad Ankara, dove nel 1957 inaugura la sua prima esposizione individuale. In questo periodo partecipa alle lezioni di archeologia classica del prof. Inaugura poi una mostra insieme ad altri artisti turchi nella Galleria d’Arte del Palazzo della Esposizione. Vince il Secondo Premio al Concorso Internazionale di Pittura Premio Gubbio. Nel 1961 vince il Primo Premio al Concorso Internazionale di Disegno Premio Gubbio e viene invitata al Premio Europa ad Ancona.
Nel 1962 incontra Carlo Cardazzo a Venezia e apre un’esposizione individuale nella Galleria del Cavallino. Le sue opere vengono esposte a Milano accanto a quelle di Abe, Colombo, Mondrian, Picasso, Twombly e Fontana e viene invitata a partecipare alla Mostra dei Contrasti.
Nel 1963 organizza la sua esposizione individuale nella Galleria La Salita di Leverani. Entra nel gruppo di Rotella, Dorazio, Consagra, Conte, Gia Pommodoro, Castellani e Fontana. Source text - Italian Monika Bulanda è un’artista visiva e una musicista.
Nasce a Cracovia nel 1983 e fin dalla giovane età dimostra un forte interesse per l’arte, la musica, il teatro, lo sport, le lingue e la cultura. A soli 6 anni comincia a studiare pianoforte per poi proseguire con la batteria, istruita dal Maestro Wiesław Piszczyński il quale già da tempo la incoraggia ad indirizzarsi verso una carriera da musicista a livello professionale. Prende poi numerose lezioni di pittura presso la galleria locale a Stary Sacz e all’età di soli 13 anni vince il suo primo premio in una competizione regionale di pittura.
Successivamente, Monika Bulanda ottiene una laurea bilingue in spagnolo e polacco. All’età di 16 anni, attraverso vie illegali per la sua età troppo giovane, inizia ad apparire in club di musica a Cracovia divenendo una delle prime batteriste donna in Polonia. Continuando il suo interesse per le lingue, entra nell’Università di Varsavia presso il Dipartimento Orientale per studiare il cinese e la sua cultura. Bulanda si laurea contemporaneamente in musica e in sinologia, seguendo corsi in due Università differenti. Per diversi anni la pittura rimane un hobby e collabora su molti progetti artistici di altri artisti.
Dopo aver ottenuto le due lauree, l’artista decide di lasciare il suo gruppo musicale per partire alla volta di Pechino (Cina), dove viene ammessa all’Accademia Cinematografica della città presso il Dipartimento straniero di Lingua e Cultura Cinese. Inizia molto presto ad apparire sulle scene musicali di Pechino suonando con diversi musicisti e band cinesi in club e durante festival musicali per tutta la Cina.
Dopo aver visitato New York nel 2010, ispirata dall’architettura e dall’aspetto multiculturale, sviluppa la sua particolare idea di tecnica mista: un collage al quale viene applicato un contorno di colore acrilico in 3D, producendo forme plastiche su una struttura bidimensionale. Dopo poco firma un contratto con una delle più grandi gallerie di arte contemporanea ad Istanbul dove vive ancora oggi. I suoi lavori sono presentati alla Contemporary Istanbul Art Fair e suscita molto interesse tra i collezionisti d’arte. Dopo poco inaugura due mostre, una personale e una collettiva.
Probabilmente, la più romantica riflessione del pensiero del XX secolo è l’ingenua convinzione che il mondo diverrà un posto più vivibile una volta che l’uomo realizzerà il “male” in corso e aprirà gli occhi su questo. Allo stesso tempo, ironicamente, mentre la percezione di un progresso scientifico e tecnologico è presente e rimodella il nostro mondo, ha anche ridefinito le nostre regole. Monika Bulanda riflette su questi paradossi del secolo passato, trasmettendo il suo pensiero tramite l’arte. Ciò accade non solo attraverso le tecniche e i materiali usati nelle opere, ma anche mediante le connotazioni strutturali della tela. Qualche volta l’artista preferisce esplorare lo spazio astratto piuttosto che i temi materiali, insieme al “viaggio dello sconosciuto”.
I colori e le forme tridimensionali cambiano secondo la prospettiva dalla quale li si osserva: essi regalano a diversi individui, nello stesso momento, la possibilità di accogliere molteplici punti di vista i quali si ricompongono nella complessità di in un unico quadro.In ogni sguardo è racchiusa solo una delle infinite possibilità di cui la realtà è composta. Oltre a definire l’atto del guardare come una relazione di potere, Bulanda usa questa metafora come riflesso dell’attuale atmosfera politica. Diventa possibile vedere le tracce della super modernità sulle superfici in cui reale e finzione, razionale e irrazionale si fondono.
Translation - English Monika Bulanda is a visual artist and musician, born in Krakow in 1983. Since her early days she has shown a deep interest in art, music, theatre, sports, languages and culture. Monika started playing the piano when she was only six years old, formerly started taking drum classes with the teacher Wiesław Piszczyński, who had fostered her for a long time to become a professional musician.
Later, she took many painting classes at the local gallery of Stary Sacz and when she was only thirteen won her first prize at a regional painting competition.
Monika Bulanda got then a bilingual graduation in Spanish and Polish. When she was sixteen started showing illegally (due to her young age) in music clubs in Krakow becoming one of the first female drummers in Poland. Still having an interest in languages, she enrolled the University of Warsaw into the Eastern Department to study Chinese and its culture. Bulanda graduated at the same time in Music and Sinology, following the courses in two different Universities. For many years she kept on painting in her spare time and collaborated in many projects of other artists.
After obtaining the two graduations, the artist decided to leave her music band to travel to Beijing (China), where she got accepted to the Film Academy of the city at the Foreign Department of Chinese Language and Culture. She soon started showing in music scenes in Beijing playing with several Chinese musicians and bands into clubs and music festivals all over China.
After visiting New York in 2010, inspired by the architecture and the multicultural environment, she develops her own idea of mixed technique: a collage to which a 3D acrylic colour edge is applied, producing plastic shapes on a bidimensional structure. After few time she signed a contract with one of the biggest contemporary art galleries in Istanbul, where she still lives nowadays. Her works are showed in the Contemporary Istanbul Art Fair and she araures a wide interest among art collectors. After few time she opened a solo exhibition and a collective one.
Probably, the most romantic reflection of the XX century was the naive belief that the world will become a better place to live once man acknowledges ongoing evil. At the same time, ironically, while the perception of a scientific and technological progress is real and affects the world, it has also redefined our rules. Monika Bulanda contemplates these last century’s paradoxes and communicate her thoughts by means of art. She does it through the techniques and the materials used in her works, but also through the structural connotations of the canvas. From time to time she prefers to explore the abstract space instead of material topics, together with the “unknown journey”.
The colors and the tridimensional shapes change, depending on the observer’s perspective: at the same time, they offer different individuals the chance to receive multiple points of view, which recompose themselves into a whole unique painting - in every look there is only one of the innumerable possibilities of which reality is made of. More than defining the act of looking as a power relationship, Bulanda uses this metaphor to reflect the current political atmosphere. It becomes possible to see the signs of supermodernity on the surface where real and fiction, rational and irrational blend together.
