I translate from Spanish & Greek into UK native English
Specialisations: Ageing, Grief, Loss, Humanities, HR, Sustainable Fashion, Tourism & Travel Writing.
Are you looking for a native English translator who can translate your literary or academic work into UK English, so you can reach an international readership?
I'm known for my attention to detail and my intellectual curiosity. I specialise in academic translation because I'm a lifelong learner, always looking to expand my horizons and learn something new. If you share a love of Arts and Humanities, especially the Performing Arts, please get in touch.
I've worked with senior citizens for over 20 years and led a Hospital Chaplaincy Department for six. That experience undergirds my special interest in academic studies on Bereavement, Grief, Loss, Ageing and Theology.
I'm a qualified Spanish and English language teacher, ran a sewing school for 4 years and have run training courses for hospital volunteers, so have experienced different types of education from various angles.
In my spare time I knit and sew, having attended regular dressmaking and needlework classes for over 10 years. I live in rural Shropshire with my husband, who is a teacher. We're kept fit and amused by two Old English Sheepdogs, and grow as much fruit and veg as we can fit into our garden.
Over four years' experience: Translation
Over eight years' experience: Education & Performing Arts
Over 10 years' experience: Management, Leadership, Human Resources
Over 10 years' experience: Garment Construction & Textiles
Over 20 years' experience: Theology, Church Ministry
Over 20 years' experience: supporting senior citizens and those grieving various kinds of loss
Greek: 2nd native language
I grew up in Greece as part of a multilingual family and lived in Athens for 13 years. I've continued travelling back and forth between Greece and the UK throughout my life.
I hold a BA(Hons) in Spanish and Latin American Studies and, in 2019, I completed an Advanced Spanish-to-English Translation Course with DipTrans Preparation with Gwenydd Jones at The Translator's Studio.
I'm currently preparing for the Spanish-to-English Diploma in Translation (DipTrans) and am a member of the Institute of Linguists.
