Como você está usando este dom que Ele lhe deu? Você está vivendo de uma forma que mostra sua gratidão? Mal consigo contar quantas vezes que vi as pessoas andando pelas ruas com seus celulares. Lembro-me uma vez minha amiga viu uma jovem que estava tão distraída pelas mensagens de texto que ela não notou uma grande pilha de areia bem em frente dela. Claro, por não olhar, ela acabou caindo sobre ela. Você está deixando que a tecnologia lhe distrai dos aspectos mais importantes da vida? Será que você, tanto como aquela jovem, está vagando em direção à pilha de sujeira? Você está ocupado demais com mensagens de texto ou com as últimas notícias de celebridades?
Como estudantes universitários, vocês não têm desculpa nenhuma para gastar seu tempo com passatempos tolos como estes. Christ doesn’t ask you to pay Him back, but He certainly hopes that you will use the gift of life that He has given you.
How are you using this gift that Christ has given you? Are you living in a way that expressed your gratitude? I can’t count the number of times I have seen people walking down the street with their cell phones. I recall that once, a friend of mine saw a young woman who was so distracted by texting that she didn’t notice a large pile of sand right in front of her. Of course, because the young woman didn’t look where she was going, she ended up falling right into the pile of sand. Are you letting technology distract you from the most important details of your life? Are you like that young woman, wandering aimlessly towards a pile of dirt? Are you too absorbed by texting, or by keeping up with the latest celebrity gossip?
As college students, you have no excuse for wasting your time with vacuous pastimes such as these. You claim that you watch Netflix or play videogames late into the night because you can’t sleep, or because you want to do something fun between working on your assignments for school. However, there are many other ways you could take that study break. You could hike in the mountains, go to the gym or attend the dances on Center Street. There are several libraries, museums and temples you could visit instead of wasting your time watching television or updating your virtual profiles. Yes, God gave you this life, but it was so that you could do something useful with it. Now is the time to set aside your virtual lives and start to live your real life- a life worth the price that was paid on the cross.
