With its constant sub-zero temperatures and uninhabited glacier terrain, Antarctica is not usually thought of as a luxury locale. But tour operator White Desert is determined to change that. Offering a few expeditions a year to their upscale, well-furnished camp, the group affords a few hundred travellers the chance to experience the inner part of the icy continent with (almost) all the comforts of home.

The trips all start with a five-hour private flight from Cape Town to an ice runway perched atop a 50m-tall frozen waterfall located within the Dronning Maud Land region in eastern Antarctica.
Guests then get cosy at the eco-friendly Whichaway camp, which is completely solar- and wind-powered. The tented refuge includes a living area furnished with a central warming stove, fur rugs, a library and maps of the South Pole in tribute to early Victorian explorers. Meals are also served in style, prepared by a professional South African chef. A full English breakfast is followed by a light lunch, with all the stops pulled out for a three-course dinner, which might include barbequed steak, salmon served with wasabi and plenty of Champagne.
While at the camp, guests can participate in a variety of activities, including exploring ice caves, visiting a nearby science base, kite-skiing or touring a colony of Emperor penguins, where more than 6,000 of the flightless birds nest and raise their chicks.

As part of its commitment to have zero environmental impact, the entire camp is dismantled at the end of each season, leaving behind no trace of human touch among the vast glacier landscape.

Niezamieszkały teren pokrytej lodem Antarktydy wraz z temperaturą stale utrzymującą się poniżej zera, nie jest traktowany jako luksusowe miejsce. Jednak organizator imprez turystycznych White Desert postanowił to zmienić, oferując kilka ekspedycji rocznie do swojego ekskluzywnego, doskonale wyposażonego obozu. Oferta daje kilkuset podróżującym szansę na poznanie centralnej części tego białego kontynentu przy zachowaniu (prawie) wszystkich udogodnień z domu.

Wszystkie ekspedycje zaczynają się pięciogodzinnym prywatnym lotem z Kapsztadu na oblodzony pas startowy znajdujący się na szczycie zamarzniętego wodospadu o wysokości 50 metrów, w regionie Ziemii Królowej Maud we wschodniej części Antarktydy.
Następnie goście zakwaterowywani są w przytulnym i ekologicznym obozie Whichaway, który jest zasilany całkowicie poprzez energię słoneczną i wiatrową. Namiotowe schonisko oferuje salon wyposażony w centralne ogrzewanie, futrzane dywany, bibliotekę oraz mapy bieguna południowego w hołdzie dla pierwszych wiktoriańskich odkrywców. Stylowe posiłki podawane są przez profesjonalnego szefa kuchni z RPA. Po śniadaniu angielskim podawany jest lekki obiad, a następnie, po dopięciu wszystkiego na ostatni guzik, serwowana jest trzydaniowa kolacja, która może obejmować stek z grilla, łososia podawanego z wasabi, a wszystko to suto zakrapiane szampanem.
Podczas pobytu w obozie uczestnikom ekspedycji oferowane są zajęcia, takie jak zwiedzanie jaskiń lodowych, wizyta w pobliskiej stacji badawczej, kite-skiing oraz wycieczka do kolonii pingwinów cesarskich, gdzie można zobaczyć ponad 6000 tych ptaków nielotnych wychowujących swoje pisklęta.

Ponieważ obóz zobowiązany jest do zerowego wpływu na środowisko, rozmontowywany jest on po zakończeniu każdego sezonu, nie pozostawiając za sobą żadnego śladu ludzkiej obecności na tym ogromnym lodowcu.

I work in four languages: English, Spanish, Polish and German. These include two target languages: Spanish and Polish.

I have experience translating patents from Polish into Spanish and also regularly translate manuals in the same language combination.
