The people of Troekan were very fortunate. No other village could boast of such fine, glorious rain. Rain that flooded their garden with a profusion of dazzling flowers. Rain that made music as it pattered on the tile roofs. Rain that perfumed the very air, drenched their clothes, and muddied their streets. It was a joy to live in Troekan.
Now, as this story begins, it was a typical day in the village of Troekan - a real soaker. Many of the villagers were picnicking in the country. Others were stretched out on the wet grass in the parks: airing their babies, listening to the band concert, or just napping.
School, which for reasons of health was held outdoors in the rain, had just been dismissed. And the children ran, shouting happily, past the shiny wet houses-toward the lake. it was just the right kind of a day for a swim.
In one of the houses, a mother's voice said, "What - Raymond and Yolande - still in the house on such a fine rainy day? Quick-out into the street - or do I have to toss you both out of the window?"
Raymond and Yolande ran into the street, giggling. Mother was always joking.
"And, mind," she cried after them. "And, mind - you come back soaked to the skin - else I'll lock you both out."
Oh, of course Raymond and Yolande would get soaked to the skin, and muddy, and dirty. Didn't they every day? Playing their regular games of mud-rolling, puddle-jumping, and hide-and-splash?
Situated in the center of Troekan was the village square. As always, it was a hubbub of activity. Vendors were selling their soaking wares everywhere. The villagers were shopping, and discussing the affairs of the day. And they were forever arguing, and shouting, and laughing. While the children played games, or had mud-ball fights. And cried, and chased dogs, and ate. Everyone was having a grand time.
And above all the clatter and bustle could be heard the beautiful sound of the rain pattering on the tile roofs.
Translation - Indonesian Hujan yang ceria
Penduduk desa Troekan adalah orang-orang yang sangat beruntung. Tidak ada desa lain yang bisa bercerita penuh bangga tentang hujan yang begitu indah, dan meriah. Hujan yang membanjiri kebun-kebun mereka dengan limpahan bunga-bunga indah. Hujan yang membunyikan suara musik ketika jatuh di atas genting. Hujan yang memberi aroma pada udara, yang membasahi baju-baju mereka, dan membuat jalan-jalan di desa jadi berlumpur. Dahulu, sangatlah menyenangkan tinggal di desa ini.
Saat cerita ini dimulai, hari ini adalah hari yang seperti biasa di desa Troekan – berhujan deras. Banyak penduduk desa yang berpiknik di luar kota. Sebagian yang lain merebahkan diri di atas rerumputan basah di taman kota, membawa keluar bayi-bayi mereka, atau sekedar tidur siang.

Di dalam salah satu rumah tersebut, seorang ibu berkata, “Apa yang dilakukan Raymond dan Yolande, masih di dalam rumah di hari hujan yang indah seperti ini? Cepat – keluar ke jalanan- atau ibu lempar kalian berdua lewat jendela?”
Raymond dan Yolande berlari ke jalan, terkikik-kikik. Ibu selalu saja bercanda.
“Dan ingat,” teriak ibu dari belakang mereka. “Dan ingat, jangan pulang sebelum badan kalian basah semua – atau ibu kunci kalian di luar rumah.”
Oh, tentu saja Raymond dan Yolande akan basah hingga ke dalam kulit, berlumpur, dan kotor. Bukankah itu yang mereka lakukan setiap hari? Memainkan semua permainan kesukaan mereka seperti guling-lumpur, lompat-genangan, dan sembunyi-ciprat?
Bertempat di tengah desa Troekan adalah pusat desa. Dan seperti biasanya, tempat ini adalah sebuah pusat keriuhan semua kegiatan. Para pedagang menjual perlengkapan berendam di setiap sudut. BAB 1. PENDAHULUAN
REDD merupakan mekanisme insentif ekonomi yang diberikan kepada negara berkembang untuk mendorong pengelolaan hutan berkelanjutan dalam rangka pengurangan emisi karbon. Indonesia sebagai negara dengan luas hutan lebih dan 130 juta ha atau 70% dan luas daratannya berpeluang besar untuk menerapkan REDD . Indonesia berkepentingan menjalankan program REDD untuk mengurangi emisi yang cukup besar dan sektor kehutanan dan penggunaan lahan dengan menurunkan tingkat deforestasi dan degradasi hutan secara signifikan. Indonesia juga berkepentingan ikut menekan laju pemanasan global karena termasuk negara yang rentan terhadap dampak perubahan ikIim.
REDD akan dikembangkan dalam kerangka pembangunan rendah karbon dan ekonomi hijau untuk memastikan bahwa upaya penanganan perubahan iklim dan sektor penggunaan lahan dilakukan sejalan dengan kebijakan dan kebutuhan pembangunan berkelanjutan Indonesia. Indonesia berkomitmen untuk menurunkan emisi sebesar 26% dan skenario pembangunan Business as Usual (BAU) pada tahun 2020 dengan dana sendiri tanpa mengorbankan pembangunan di sektor lain, atau 41% jika mendapatkan bantuan internasional.
Pemerintah akan melakukan ini sejalan dengan upaya memacu pertumbuhan ekonomi sebesar 7% per tahun. Untuk mewujudkan komitmen ini pemerintah telah mengeluarkan Perpres 61/2011 tentang Rencana Aksi Nasional Penurunan Emisi Gas Rumah Kaca (RAN-GRK) dan Perpres 71/2011 tentang Penyelenggaraan Inventarisasi GRK Nasional. REDD mendukung pencapaian target RAN-GRK dalam bidang pengelolaan hutan, lahan gambut dan pertanian.

Chapter I. Introduction
REDD is an economic incentive mechanism provided to developing countries to promote sustainable forest management in the context of reducing carbon emissions. Indonesia as a country with forest area of more than 130 million hectares or 70% of its land area has a great opportunity to implement REDD . Indonesian has a concern in implementing the REDD program to reduce sufficient emissions from forestry and land use by lowering the levels of deforestation and forest degradation significantly. Indonesia also has a concern to take part in restraining the rate of global warming because of its vulnerability to the impacts of climate change.
REDD will be developed within the framework of low carbon and green economy development to ensure the efforts to address climate change of land-use sector is in line with the policy and sustainable development needs of Indonesia. Indonesia is committed to reduce emissions by 26% from Business as Usual (BAU) development scenario by 2020 with its own funds without compromising the development in other sectors, or 41% with international assistance.
The government will do this scenario in line with efforts to spur economic growth of 7% per year. In order to realize this commitment the government has issued Presidential Decree 61/2011 on the National Action Plan for Reducing Emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs RAN) and Presidential Decree 71/2011 on Implementation of the National Greenhouse Gas Inventory. REDD supports the achievement of GHG-RAN in the area of forests management, peat land and agriculture.

Jenny works on the translation and editing of English-Indonesia language pair. Majoring in electrical engineering and information technology (IT), Jenny is conversant with electrical and OT terms as well as general technical words and expressions. She started her language-related career as a secretary in South Sumatra-based bilateral cooperation project, where either English-to-Indonesian or Indonesian-to-English translations were part of her daily tasks. Not only did the experience rekindle Jenny's interest in language, but it also familiarised her with forestry, environmental, and social terminology. In 2012, she decided to become a freelance translator and has since worked for translation agencies both from Indonesia and abroad. Drawing on her educational and hands-on professional experience, Jenny works mostly on technical, environmental, and forestry documents. Good working knowledge of a number of computer-assisted translation (CAT) and subtitling tools, such as SDL Trados, Wordfast, Aegisub, and Inqscribe is a definite plus for Jenny's translation and subtitling works.
