Source text - Portuguese INFORMAÇÃO SOBRE O CONCEITO DA NOVA LOGOMARCA
• transformação do gás em energia;

INFORMATION ON THE CONCEPT OF THE NEW LOGO
The study to modernize the company logo was undertaken as it was felt that the current mark was somewhat antiquated and didn’t express the company’s new ambitions in the field of sustainable development and modernity.
The decision was made to introduce a new mark rather than modernize the existing one.
The proposed new logo, conceived by
was based upon the concept of “transformation”:
• Transformation of gas into energy;
• Transformation of the company’s position, with greater alignment with modern strategies, focusing on sustainability
• Transformation of the company’s relationship with society and its activities in the field of social responsibility
• Transformation of the company’s relationship with the environment, reflected by its efforts to compensate and its support of environmental initiatives
It was therefore decided to conceive a mark that better reflects the company’s present-day position, incorporating the concepts of sustainability, modernity, leading-edge technology, movement, and, most importantly, that imparts an overall feeling of lightness.
The new mark was created according to these concepts, its design modern, clean and concise, depicting the Norte Fluminense UTE as a present-day company committed to transformation with a vision to the future.
It was decided to use upper-case lettering in Frutiger font, as currently utilized by the company. The contrast achieved by the variation in the size of the letters “UTE “and “NORTE FLUMINENSE” is intended to reinforce its message.
The objective governing the choice of colors was the emphasis on modernity and sustainability. Orange is one of the EDF’s institutional colors and green is one of Petrobras’ institutional colors which also represents environmental concepts and sustainability. The use of gradient was adopted to reinforce volume and movement, giving the logo a further three-dimensional option.
The abstract geometric form seeks to convey the feeling of movement, of transformation and the infinite (a reference to the combined cycle system). It isn’t necessary to refer directly to the plant itself or to the production of energy, given that the name of the company already provides that information (Thermoelectric Plant – UTE).
