After both front and back body surfaces are scanned, the two images can be combined and body dimensions can be measured on the 3D data. There are many pre-defined key measurements that are used for apparel design. These key measurements are associated with certain landmarks of the body. This type of a body measurement can be the distance or angle between two landmarks (e.g. yoke and should slope), the length of a surface curve (e.g. crotch), and the circumference of the body at a landmark (e.g. bust). The measurements can be used to generate a body-form or directly be sent to a CAD system for pattern alteration. It takes three major steps to extract body dimensions from the 3D body data.
(1) Locate body landmarks, such as waist, chest and neck. Based on basic features of body, most landmarks can be automatically detected. Since human body shapes vary dramatically, manual
intervention may also be needed to adjust landmarks for correct measurements.
(2) Process the data using fitting techniques, such as B-spline curves, to smooth and connect points of a cross-section at one landmark or a space curve between two landmarks.
(3) Compute the measurements such as circumference, distance, angle, etc.
Calculating body circumferences at landmarks is a major task in body size extraction from a scanned body image, B-spline curve approximation provides an effective way of representing body cross sections. Given a set of defining polygon vertices (control points), {equation}, a B-spline curve C(u) is given by {equation}, where u is a parameter, and {equation} are pth degree B-spline basis functions, which are recursively defined as
{equation}, and {equation}.
The values of {equation}, are the elements of a knot vector, {equation}, which is a monotonically increasing series of real numbers. Usually, {equation} and are set as the starting and end points of u. When the range of u is [0, 1], {equation}. To guarantee the curve C(u) to be closed and {equation} continuous anywhere, the knot vector U and the control points {equation} should meet the following conditions:

The first condition requires that the distribution of the last 2p 1 knots holds the same pattern as that of the first 2p 1 knots. This condition makes the basis functions associated with these knots are identical. The second condition requires {equation}, that the last p control points duplicate the first p ones. It can be deduced that {equation}. Figure 5 shows these conditions in the p=3 case (cubic B-spline curves). The last seven knots have the same distribution as the fast seven knots, making the last three basis functions identical to the fast three ones.

After p and U are selected, the B-spline curve is solely dependent on the selection of the control points {equation}. {equation} may be determined with some approximation or interpolation scheme. If a set of ordered data points from a closed curve, {equation} are known, the data set {equation} can be approximated by a B-spline curve C(n) using the least square method, {equation},
where {equation} are the calculated parameter values according to the displacement of {equation} and {equation} makes the last p control points {equation} identical to the first p control points {equation}. Assume that P is a vector of the n-p 1 distinct control points, Q is the vector of in data points, and N is a matrix, {equation}, derived from the basis functions as follows:

The least-square equation can be expressed in a matrix format: {equation}. Then P can be calculated by solving the following linear system: {equation}.
This algorithm may be summarized as follows: (1) Compute the parameters {equation} according to the displacement of data points {equation}, where the chord length is adopted.
(2) Choose the knot vector {equation} which should reflect the distribution of {equation} and be under the restriction of condition 1.
(3) Calculate the first n-p 1 control points {equation} and assign the first p control points to the last p ones. The number of the control points (n 1) has significant influence on the fining accuracy of the B-spline curve. Figure 6 shows mo B-spline curves that fit the same set of data Q when n 1=20 and n 1=40, respectively. It was found that a B-spline curve with 40 control points can provide a sufficient accuracy for fitting a body cross section.

The B-spline approximation of body cross sections can provide both the body size and shape information at specific locations. Particularly, when multiple cross-sections are superimposed, one can visualize the rate of change in size and shape along the body's vertical axis

Az elülső és hátulsó testfelület szkennelése után, a lézerek képeinek összeillesztésével a 3D-s adatokról levehetők a test méretei. Több előre meghatározott kulcsfontosságú mérést használnak a ruházattervezésben. Ezek a mérések a test bizonyos meghatározó pontjaival vannak összefüggésben. Ez lehet távolság vagy szög két lényeges pont között (pl.: váll lejtése), felületi görbe hossza (pl.: ágyék), ill. a test kerülete egy lényeges ponton (pl.: mellbőség). A méréseket fel lehet használni testmodell létrehozására vagy közvetlenül egy CAD rendszerbe való továbbítással minta megváltoztatására. Három fő lépés szükséges a testméretek 3D-s test adatokból való kinyeréséhez.
1) Megtalálni a test lényeges pontjait, mint például derék, mellkas és nyak. A test alapvető jellemzői alapján a legtöbb lényeges pont automatikusan felismerhető. Mivel az emberi test formája jelentősen különbözhet, kézi beavatkozás is szükséges lehet a helyes mérések érdekében.

Kiderült, hogy a B-spline görbe 40 ellenőrzési ponttal kellő pontossággal illeszkedik a test keresztmetszeteire.

A test keresztmetszeteinek B-spline approximációja megadja mind a test méreteit, mind pedig annak alakját a meghatározott helyeken. Különösen, ha több keresztmetszet egymásra rakunk, vizualizálható a test függőleges tengelye mentén a méret és forma változása.

What monument is a symbol of American freedom known around the world? It is the Statue of Liberty in New York City’s harbor.
The statue became a symbol of freedom in the first half of the 20th century. That’s when millions of European immigrants came to the United States by ship and passed through the harbor. The statue of a tall lady holding a torch was a welcoming beacon.
A GIANT SCULPTURE
The Statue of Liberty is a giant sculpture of a woman dressed in flowing robes and wearing a spiked crown. Her right hand holds a gold torch high above her head. Her left arm holds a book of law with the date July 4, 1776, the date Americans declared their independence from Britain. The statue from base to torch is 305 feet (93 meters) high. The lady herself stands 151 feet (46 meters) tall.
VISITING THE STATUE OF LIBERTY
The Statue of Liberty stands on Liberty Island. You can reach the island by ferry from New York City. An elevator takes you to an observation deck at the top of the monument’s base. Some visitors climb 354 steps to reach the statue’s crown. From there, they have a spectacular view of New York City and its harbor. Ellis Island, where millions of immigrants entered the United States, is located nearby.
GIFT FROM FRANCE
The people of France gave the Statue of Liberty to the United States in 1884. The gift honors the alliance between the two nations during the American Revolution. Thousands of French citizens donated the money to build the statue.
After completion, the statue was exhibited in France. It was then taken apart for shipment to the United States and put back together at its present location. United States president Grover Cleveland dedicated the Statue of Liberty on October 28, 1886.
A poem is written on the base of the monument. It includes these words: “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to be free.…”

Melyik világszerte ismert emlékmű jelképezi az amerikai szabadságot? Nem más, mint a Szabadság-szobor a New York-i kikötőben.
A szobor a szabadság szimbólumává vált a 20. század első felében. Ugyanis ekkor több millió európai bevándorló érkezett hajón az Egyesült Államokba a kikötőn keresztül. A fáklyát tartó magas hölgy szobra üdvözlő világítótoronnyá vált.
AZ ÓRIÁSI SZOBOR
A Szabadság-szobor egy hatalmas, fodrozódó köntösbe öltöztetett szobor, aki tüskés koronát visel. Jobb kezével egy arany fáklyát tart magasan a feje fölött. Bal karjában törvénykönyvet tart, melyen az 1776. július 4-ei dátum, vagyis az amerikaiak Nagy-Britanniától való függetlenségének kinyilvánításának dátuma szerepel. A szobor alapjától a fáklyáig 305 láb (93 méter) magas. A hölgy maga 151 láb (46 méter) magas.
A SZABADSÁG-SZOBOR LÁTOGATÁSA
A Szabadság-szobor a Liberty Islanden áll. Ez a sziget komppal érhető el New York Cityből. Az emlékmű talapzatának tetejére egy lift visz fel.
