I am an American who specializes in research and development in East and South East Asia. I have a degree in International Relations from The American University in Washington DC and am currently pursuing an independent development research project in South East Asia. As part of this project I am familiarizing myself with the local languages and customs.
I minored in Japanese in college and have spent many years studying that language including two separate study abroad programs in Japan, one at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto. I have also studied Mandarin Chinese and have spent a year working in mainland China. I currently reside in Chiang Mai, Thailand where I have begun my second year of Thai language studies at Chiang Mai University and am continuing my independent study of the Lao language.
I have also earned an English teaching certificate from TEFL International, an internationally accredited English teaching training organization, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. I have been an English teacher both for schools and independently for the past five years. |
