My first resolution was covered in an earlier poll, and that was to raise my rates, or at least raise the minimum rate that I will accept. My other resolutions have to do with developing my business (set up website, translating my résumé, develop marketing strategies, etc.) and what to do to improve myself during dry periods (translate for practice, watch the news in my working languages, read more in all working languages, etc.). I guess my first resolution is attending at least one international conference in order to develop my marketing skills in the long term; then reorganizing my website, profile update may follow among others... | | | Andrea Riffo Chile Local time: 00:06 English to Spanish + ...

This is said with the utmost respect for my colleagues who actually do, but I do not believe in such a thing as "New Year's Resolutions". For me, they sound just like dust in the wind... I believe in concrete plans and actions, and they do happen (or do not happen, for the same reason) all throughout the year, they're not just a promise on December 31st... | | | expanding my client base | Dec 28, 2007 |
My wish is to broaden (and 'refresh') my client base to make up for lost clients (due to some mergers of translation agencies the last few years) and to take up technical writing. | | | Go for the Diploma in Translation! | Dec 28, 2007 |
Well, next year actually; but I'll start preparing for it right away in January. What a thrill!!!! Good luck with all your resolutions, and have a fantastic 2008! | | | Not really a New Year Resolution ... | Dec 28, 2007 |
... more of a CPD plan for 2008. As I'll be back in the UK from mid-January, I have a continuing professional development plan already provisionally worked out for the year, which will help me take full advantage of the various legal and translation CPD courses on offer. Once you start searching, there are some really lovely courses around, and it's a nice way to see parts of the country too. May everyone have a fun and champagne-glass-filled passage into 2008! D

Definitely, my New Year Resolution is to travel more, not only for business purposes but for pleasure! I believe I worked really hard this year, so I deserve a nice trip to Brazil to start with!!! Trados certification/exam (but I think if just one of the above-listed actions will completed, I will happy anyway) Happy New Year to all ProZians! May God bless your resolutions and all wishes, Liza
I wish I could have more jobs in non-English language pair. I like English language, but as interpreter / translator would prefer to maintain a certain proportion between my working language pairs to keep all of them afloat. Since we all believe or don't believe in one and the same God, so I pray to Him for blessing of everyone's good resolutions. Amen

These are not actually 2008 reslutions, but... 1. Better time management 2. Better workload management 3. Giving myself some break during the year vs. forcing myself to death 4. At least one trip abroad (language and/or university studies) 5. Additional language certificates ...and... one day... The New Year's Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic. Live! If I am lucky, why not January 1, 2009?!?!?!? Happy and Prosperous New Year to all ... See more These are not actually 2008 reslutions, but... 1. Better time management 2.
