Dear Colleagues,

I recently upgraded my SDL Trados 2007 Freelance licence (update not yet downloaded) to SDL Trados Studio 2011 Freelance Plus.

What I want to know is if all the components of SDL Trados 2007 Suite are included in SDL Trados Studio 2011 Freelance Plus and if i can work separately with both versions in the same PC.

Finally, I want to ask if SDL Studio 2011 Freelance Plus is compatible with Windows 7, Professional or Home Premium, 64 bits, Ser

Thanks in advance!

Dear Fernando Santos,

since I started using Trados 2009, I could answer that SDL Trados Studio 2011 Freelance Plus works fine on Windows 7. I purchased a Vista machine with free upgrade to Windows 7 Home, but I installed Windows 7 Ultimate on the same machine. I did this because there are some software that only work on Professional Windows that I use for other purposes than translating.

Corresponding service packs for W7U I also installed, with no problems affecting SDL TSFP 2011.

If you usually translate big files, I'll also recommend to install all possible random access memory that may be installed in your machine; and on the power line put also a no-break.

On the next energy shortage you can smile, instead of wishing tears.

My machine has now 8 GB of RAM, and my no-break gives me 20 minutes of time to decide to shutdown or not on energy shortages. Another interesting info about no-breaks: they usually gives electrical energy with no fluctuations, which in turn also increases a bit the life time of computers connected to them.

Regards
