Kindly contact Micheal on ( [email protected] ) if you are interested for more details. Your response will be highly treated. Best Regards, Micheal Horn" Apart from the weird e-mail, it sounded true. I replied asking for more detail, and here was the answer: "Dear Sir/Ma, This is an article that dealt with Child Trafficking, The purpose of this Article is to attempt to answer the question why inter-country adoption a form of child trafficking? and also dealt on how to corb the abusive adoption practices at concern and to organise a workshop. See more Dear All I also received an email from "Micheal Horn" recently. "Dear Sir/Ma, Serious and compitent translator is urgently needed for a translation of an article on Immoralty and Human Traffication from English to Japanese. The document would be needed for the Annual Global combine Seminar on Immoralty and Human trafficking, The seminar is to change the orientation of the Western Africans on the subject matters at the Western Parts of Africa between 6th August - 12th August, 2011 * Subject: Immoralty and Human Trafficking * Source Language: English * Target Language: Japanese * Total Word Count: 20,885 * Deadline Date: 29th of July, 2011 * Payment Method (CERTIFIED BANK CHECK) : Payment will be made twice for the security of both parties, you will have the 50% advance payment Via a Certified Bank Check as a down payment the moment you confirmed the assignment accepted by you and have the remaining 50% on delivery of the translation. I would like to confirm your availability for this project, so i can supply you in details on the document to be translated. Your response would be highly treated. Best Regards, Micheal Horn" Although his offer was pretty dubious, I replied, indicating my reserved interest and asking for details of his identity, e.g. his location and contact phone number. He replied as below and attached a Word file, entitled "IMMORALITY AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING". "Dear, In regards to your response and your availablity to handle the translation of the project (Immorality and Human Trafficking), attached with an email is the document. i would like to offer 10 u.s cent for the translation. Please, I would like you to go through the document and let me know the actual word count and your full price for translating the document, then i can send you the advance 50% advance payment for the comencement of the translation via a certified bank cheque. Thanks and Best Wishes, Micheal Horn" After scanning the Word file for possible viruses, I opened it and found it to be a genuine article on human trafficking. Therefore, I asked again for information on his identity. Somewhat surprisingly, he replied with an address and a phone number. "Micheal Horn 14, Fitzhardinge Street, West Central, London, W1H 6DH +447024088628" Internet search tells me that this address is that of British Heart Foundation and that "070" phone numbers are often used by scammers. Now, I have concluded this is definitely a scam. But I wonder if this really pays, given that the amount of money possibly involved is relatively small and that a lot of work is involved to complete the plan. Perhaps, they (I suspect "Micheal Horn" is a group of non-native English speakers) need to divide their money into small sums for money laundering purposes. ▲ Collapse | | | Justin Gilbert | Jul 28, 2011 |

I received the same message today. Same name, same content, figures, etc. The only difference was the start date (which doesn't make any sense as the theoretical "source text" was already included as an attachment). It did sound a bit estrange to me, so I checked and here it is, another bloody scammer... Argh. In any case, lucky we noticed. Thanks people, please keep posting notes about this. Hi all, I have just received the same mail from Justin Gilbert. It sounded a bit weird (such a hurry about my bank details, a very big project without knowing me...), so I searched and found this useful information... I answered the e-mail saying that I don't accept cheques, but I don't expect any answer... Just wanted to thank you for posting this. Regards, Iria | | | Same e-mail too | Aug 2, 2011 |
