Bio
I am an ex-pat electrical engineer living and working in Bolivia. My background is that of a family with deep Hispanic roots (Mexico) but with a USA surname. My career in engineering started in 1970 with work for Southwestern Bell and continues today with experience along the way in Ecuador, the United States and Bolivia. Most of my engineering experience comes from work in the Dallas, Texas area with equipment manufacturers.

I have an undergraduate in electrical engineering (Kansas State Univ. 1971) and a master's degree in electrical engineering also from the same university (1977). Additionally I have a Master of Arts degree in Religion (2003) from Graceland University.

From 1972 to 1975 my wife and I were Peace Corps volunteers in Ecuador. Most of my experience in Ecuador was teaching (in Spanish) in the Escuela Superior Politécnia del Litoral (ESPOL), a politechnic university. I taught electronics and communications.

From 1977 to 2000 I was employed in Dallas working in the communications equipment segment. My international background took me to Japan and Europe where I was a technical liaison on different projects.

In 2000 I left the electronics industry and went to work for a small mid-western USA church trying to establish itself in Latin America. In this capacity I was mostly involved in administrative matters but also taught classes and generated source material, mostly in Spanish but also in Portuguese. I traveled extensively throughout Latin America. We moved to Cochabamba in 2003. The small church ran out of money in 2007 and I was laid off along with many others. We decided to stay in Bolivia.

In 2007 and 2008 I worked part-time teaching in a private school here in Cochabamba. Much more of my time is dedicated to my small engineering and translation enterprise "Eclectic Consulting" www.consulting-bolivia.com Eclectic Consulting has two basic business orientations: 1) inbound sales, marketing, translation and 2) Engineering Furnish and Installation (EF&I) of electrical components. We have modest contracts for inbound marketing / translation of technical material, website and blog in Spanish.

From 2013, I been teaching electrical engineering topics all the way from "open to the public" to university "posgrado" level (like "university extension" level in the USA). Topics include grounding, lightning protection, power quality, power engineering and related.
