Mestrado em Filosofia pela Universidade de Glasgow e qualificado como Teacher of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), dei aulas em escolas de idiomas na Escócia antes de mudar para o Brasil em 2005.

Falo português fluentemente e tenho uma compreensão profunda das relações entre as duas línguas. O ensino combina bem com a tradução, garantindo que eu mantenha contato frequente com pessoas que trazem experiências de diversos interesses profissionais e pessoais. É justamente essa diversidade que me permite continuar crescendo como tradutor. Ao longo dos anos, trabalhei ao lado de cientistas, arquitetos, artistas, psicanalistas, músicos, pesquisadores, profissionais médicos e estudantes de todas as idades.

Ultimamente, tenho focado na area de arte contemporânea e prestei serviços para a Bienal de São Paulo, SESC e Instituto Moreira Salles entre outras instituições, além de várias galerias de arte. Tambem ando fazendo legendagem e a tradução de editais para filmes e documentarios nacionais.

No meu trabalho procuro uma forma de inglês que seja clara, apropriada ao contexto, e envolvente.

Cadastrado no Translators Without Borders, e voluntário aqui no Proz, já fiz traduções para jornalismo independente no Brasil.

Graduated with an MA in Philosophy at the University of Glasgow and qualified as a Teacher of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), I spent two years giving classes and gaining experience in language schools in Scotland before moving to Brazil in 2005.

I speak fluent Portuguese and have a deep understanding of the relationships between the two languages. Continuing to teach English marries well with translation, ensuring I maintain frequent contact with people who share experience across a diverse range of professional and personal interests. It’s precisely this diversity of interest that helps me to continue to grow as a translator. Over the years I've worked alongside scientists, architects, artists, psychoanalysts, musicians, researchers, medical professionals, and students of all ages.

In recent times my focus has been on subtitling for independent cinema and the translation of texts for contemporary art exhibitions and I have worked for the Bienal de São Paulo, SESC and Instituto Moreira Salles, in addition to a number of independent art galleries.

My work leads to a form of English which is clear, accessible, appropriate to context, and engaging.

I'm registered with Translators Without Borders and have provided voluntary translation for independent journalism in Brazil.
