After completing my undergraduate degree and a one-year translation program at McGill University in Montreal, I spent 5 years in Paris, where I worked with some of the top advertising agencies in France, including Publicis Conseil and DDB. As a language trainer, I worked with my clients from the advertising and marketing worlds to build their understanding of industry-specific vocabulary and to fine-tune their writing and delivery of important pitches. As a translator, I was responsible for translating complex and often confidential documents -- mainly pitches for new advertising accounts. These documents, formatted in word, microsoft, and excel, and sometimes containing graphics or video material to be subtitled, needed to be completed within strict deadlines -- sometimes up to 100 densely-written PowerPoint slides in 2 days.
I subsequently spent 2 years at a private university in Paris, where I taught English part-time and was responsible for translating all of their major promotional documents, including a 20+ page brochure for prospective English-language students, and the entirety of the university website.
Currently pursuing a master's degree in Conference Interpreting at the University of Ottawa, I've continued to work with existing clients in France, and written translation remains a great passion. If anything I'm now better-positioned to provide fast and reliable service to European clients; as Ottawa is 6 hours behind Paris time, I can offer next-day delivery for urgent work.
