Source text - English To say that David Bowie has been elusive these last ten years is to put it lightly. His public appearances have been extremely rare, and alarming rumours have circulated concerning his health. Some pranksters of dubious taste even had us believing that he was dead.
This latter is obviously not the case. However, once the initial excitement about the new song and relief about Bowie’s health have faded, anxiety takes over. What will the song be like? Bowie’s last albums, like the pale Reality, were disappointing for a lot of fans. As is the case with many ageing pop stars, the risk that Bowie may fall into easy formulas or self-parody (hi there Mick, Paul) feels very real. Maybe the quiet and dignified retirement that Bowie appeared to have chosen was the best solution?
Translation - Italian Il minimo che si possa dire è che David Bowie sia diventato sorprendentemente discreto negli ultimi dieci anni. Le sue apparizioni pubbliche sono state rarissime e sono circolate a più riprese voci allarmanti sul suo stato di salute. Qualche burlone di pessimo gusto ha persino diffuso la notizia della sua morte.
Ovviamente è una bufala. Eppure, svanita l’eccitazione per l’annuncio del nuovo singolo, e dopo aver tirato un sospiro di sollievo per il rdivivo, una certa inquietudine si fa strada alla notizia dell'ultimo disco. Gli ultimi album, uno tra tutti il palliduccio "Reality", sono stati una delusione per molti suoi fan. Come per la maggior parte delle pop star di una certa età, il rischio di scadere nella banalità, vedi nell'auto-parodia, è più che reale (ogni riferimento a tali Mick o Paul è puramente occasionale). Forse l’uscita di scena in sordina e con dignità che Bowie sembrava aver scelto era la soluzione migliore?
