Source text - Hungarian Feszt László képvilága olyan látvány mely a tudatalattiságból ered és ott is vész el. A cél felé tartva a kölcsönös tartalmak összeadása révén telitődik és végső kifejlettségében szervesen összedolgozódva jön világra. A mű ősi rezonanciákat aktiválva érint meg.
A formák önmagukért beszélnek. Nem mesét mondanak, hanem szellemiséget jelenítenek meg. Megértésükhöz a nyelv ismerete elengedhetetlen.
Feszt László képzetei nem valaminek a leegyszerűsített, dekoratív megfelelői. Nem valamely természet utáni tanulmányból született stilizált alakok. Nem a lemásolt létező modell belső vagy kűlső megjelenését, eredetét, vagy valamilyen fajta lényegét hordozzák önmagukban, hanem egy tudatos formai és plasztikai építkezés folyamatának a szellemi és lelki eredményei. Egy olyan alkotó kéz és elme szellemjegyei, aki tisztában van vizuális kellékeivel, művészi szóbőségével és fogalmazáslehetőségeinek gazdagságával vagy felvállalt szegénységeivel.
Furcsa módon az építkezés nála valóban egy feltárás-folyamat. Ahogyan a történelmi lelet vagy a foszília arra vár, hogy az ember feltárja, arra törekedvén, hogy minél jobb és épebb állapotban kerüljön a felszínre, Feszt Lászlónál is ugyanúgy tárulnak fel és kerülnek szemünk elé saját alakzatai. A feltáró személyében pont magát a művészt leljük felfedezni. A külömbség annyi, hogy ő nem a föld, vagy a homok eredetű konglomerátumból ássa elő különleges értékeit, hanem a gondolat atavisztikus zugainak mélyéről és ebből a masszából menti át őket számunkra.
Ennek a sajátos folyamatnak nyomait, ezeket az előhívásokat véljük felfedezni lapjain. Grafikái a saját psziho feltárásainak a rajz által dokumentált látványeredetei. Ennek értelmében az idő is türelmesen kisajtolva, megkövült, dermedt állapotban létezik. Formáinak felületein a művészi beavatkozás folyamán a feltárás nyomai és sérülései plasztikus fakturális értékekként saját művészi névjeggyé alakulnak át. Rajza maga a feltárás cselekedete, a szellemi valóságának a labirintusait szelve.
Következetes, hibrid világ az övé, melyben nem csak feltár hanem rendezget és mint holmi gyűjteményeket rakosgatja össze elemeit. Az egésszé tömörült darabok kész képet adnak. A dekoratív látszat érzékeny expresszivitásában rejtve a fény és árny bújkál hangsúlyosan.
A vizualitás higgadtan uralt területén a gondolati és formai társítások szövik a fonalat, míg néha-néha a háló erőteljes sodrony-kötéllé alakul és, ha nem vigyázunk, minket is becsavar. A látvány lebilincsel. Maratásos grafikáiban a tisztaság és az egyenesség mellett a mesterségbeli tudás és az ahhoz mért tisztelet és alázatosság fontos tényező. Anyagban gondolkodik.
Hatása alá kerülve első látásra úgy tűnik, egyszerű és könnyed dologgal állunk szemben, majd mikor benne vagyunk azt érezzük, hogy biztonságosan eltévedhetünk az ajánlott komplexen-rejtett játékos összefüggéseiben.
Kezdetekben a kövületek és a felfedezés vágya volt a mérvadó. Aztán következtek a törzsi művészetek. Majd az ókor, Egyiptom, Sumér és az őskori kultúrák. A törzsi népek kultúrája, a vadság primitív fokán élő népek a pápuák, afrikai maszkok... Ez az a világ ami hatott rá. Nem mások munkáiból inspirálódik hanem a régészet ihleti. Előjön, előhívódik, feltárul, feltár, keletkezik. Talán ezek a megfelelő kulcsszavak a Feszt László művészetére.
Merészen megkísérli a kilépést a sztatikus vizsgálatból és kibillenti nézőpontját. Egyensúlyát nem veszítve, dinamikus hozzáállást választ. Körbejár és töpreng. Egy gondolkodó, elmélkedő, újragondolt világ megalkotásán munkálkodik. A megkísérelt nézőpont iránya nem csupán az identitást, hanem inkább a természet folyamatát célozza. Munkái spirituális jellegűek. Áradó energiák és energiamezők mindenfele. Ősi formák besűrítése egy barátságosan meditatív térfogatba amiben útmutatóként, vezetőként irányvonalakat lelünk felfedezni. Jelzéseket. Nem határvonalak ezek, hanem viszonyítási okból vannak jelen az eltévedés megnehezítése miatt avagy tájékozódási okból kifolyólag kerülnek oda ahol vannak.
Érdekes módon a formák maguk adják ki a létező plasztikai teret, ők maguk határozzák meg és építik fel azt. Nem négyzet vagy téglalap formályú képkeret által bezárt területet definiáló nyílt vagy zárt kompozíciókról beszélünk, hanem legtöbbször a létrejött forma kibontakozása adja ki a képi formát. A figura és azon belül van feszültség. Aszkétikus hangulatuk által a külsőnek és belsőnek a megjelenése hangsúlyozódik ki az egység elveszítése nélkül. A külső térben elveszett obiektum-figurák olyanok mind valami sodródó és mégis lehorgonyzott tárgyak. A keletkezés feltárása az amit látunk. Kövületszellemek Feszt László figurái. Misztériumhordozók.
Talán Feszt László mégsem rugaszkodik el annyira, hogy munkáiban ne legyen jelen valamiféle szimbolika. Emberek, pálcikaemberek, hajlított emberek, keletkezett emberek, állatok és állatfajták..., de azért csak a formai expresszivitás számít. A többi a berögzött avagy az idő folyamán rögzült asszociatív gondolkodásra van bízva és az irodalom-tudatalattiság szerint működő Pavlov reflex mellyel azonban a művész nem óhajt manipulálni csak manipuláltat azon a szinten amelyen saját formai asszociációi az expresszióhoz, azaz a kifejezéshez.
A dekoráció az expresszivitás határán mozog, de rejtélyes módon mégis az előbbi a mérvadó. Ezek kihangsúlyozása vagy visszafogása nagy mértékben járul hozzá az egyéni kép és látványvilág kialakulásához. Áramlatokban úsznak a formák vagy a semmibe? A gondok, gondolatok miből vannak? A lejegyzett időből?
Feszt László grafikái az időt örökítik meg, azt az időt amelyet nála nem létezőnek érzékeljük. A textúrái, faktúrái olyanok mint a homokóra szemcséi melyek türelemmel, kimérten kerülnek egymás mellé. Vagy talán inkább a zene ritmusaira koncentrálva, egy fajta meditatív révhangulatban létrehozott sámán dobos univerzumához hangolt szekvenciális kőrforgásból táplálkozó életritmust leírt képletkoreográfiája is lehetne. Mint valymi ős-tánc vagy ős-kotta mely az élet rezonanciáit jegyzi. Feszt talán leginkább így kapcsolódik az élethez, így tesz eleget az élet körforgásának.
Translation - English Laszlo Feszt's imagery is a sight that originates and is lost in the subconscious. It is born by
becoming saturated with interdependent contents, and in its ultimate developed stage organically
worked together, while reaching towards the goal. The art touches us by activating ancient
resonances.
The forms talk for themselves. They don't simply tell a tale, but display spirituality. To
understand them it is essential to know their language.
Laszlo Feszt's notions are not decorative, simplified counterparts of something. They are not stylized shapes born from a study of nature. They don't carry in themselves the inner or external appearance, origin, or some kind of essence, but they are the intellectual and spiritual achievements of a conscious construction of forms and art. They are the spiritual marks of a creative hand and mind, who is aware of his visual props, of his artistic language, with both its riches or professed poverty.
Oddly enough, the construction in his case is truly an excavation process. Just as a historical artifact or a fossil is waiting to be uncovered by someone, striving to get to the surface in its best and most intact form, the individual shapes in Laszlo Feszt's case are uncovered and unfold in front of our eyes. The archaeologist seems to be the artist himself. The difference is that he is not digging up his particular values from underground, or from a conglomeration originating in sand. Instead, he finds them in the depths of the deep atavistic recesses of the human consciousness and he is saving them, bringing them back to us from this mass.
On his pages we seem to detect traces of this unique process, of these developings. His graphics are the visual origins of his own psyche, documented by drawing. According to this, time also exists in a patiently pressed, petrified, frozen state. On the surfaces of his forms, during the artistic intervention, the damages and traces of excavation are converted into a personal artistic calling card as legitimate values. His drawing is the act of exploration itself, cutting through the labyrinth of the spiritual reality. His world is a consistent, hybrid world, in which he not only unearths, but also organizes, and arranges its elements together like parts of a collection. The pieces, clustered into a whole, provide the final image. The light and shadow hides conspicuously through the sensitive expressivity of the decorative appearance.
In the calmly dominated field of visuality , the associations of thought and form weave the fiber until the mesh occasionally turns into a strong wire rope, and if we are not careful, it enfolds us. The sight fascinates us. In his etching graphics, along with a clarity and frankness, another important factor is the craftsmanship, and the respect and humility equaling it. He thinks in
material. Falling under his spell, on the first glance, we seem to be facing something light and
simple, then as we come in the center of it, we feel safe to get lost in these recommended, elaborately hidden, playful connections.
In the beginning, the fossils and desire to discovery was authoritative. Later on came the
tribal arts. Later yet came the antiquity, Egypt, Sumer and the ancient cultures, the culture of the
tribal people, the people of the primitive stages of savagery, the Papuans, the African masks... This is the world that influenced him. He is not inspired by the work of others, but by archeology. Comes out, brought out, revealed, reveal, emerges might be the keywords to Laszlo Feszt's art.
He boldly attempts to exit the static inspection and he throws off the point of view.
Without losing his balance, he chooses a dynamic attitude. He mills around and reflects. He is
working on creating a thoughtful, reflective, rethought world. The attempted point of view is not
only aimed towards identity, but rather towards the process of nature. His works are of a spiritual
nature. Energies and energy fields are emanating everywhere. The concentration of ancient forms in a friendly meditative volume, in which we seem to find lines of sight for guides. We find his signals.
These are not boundaries, but rather they are there as a point of reference in order to make it more difficult to get lost, in other words, they are placed where they are for orientation.
Interestingly, the forms themselves create the existing artistic space, they themselves
determine it and build it. We are not talking about open or closed compositions enclosed by square or rectangle forms, but most of the time the image is developed by unfolding the most established form. There is the figure and within it there is tension. Through our ascetic mood the appearance of the exterior and the interior is emphasized without losing the whole. The object-figures lost in the exterior space seem like some drifting, though still anchored, objects. The unearthing of formation is what we see. Fossil ghosts. Laszlo Feszt's figures. Holders of mystery.
Still, maybe Laszlo Feszt doesn't depart from the norm so much that some type of symbolism is not present in his works. People, bent people, created people, animals and animal species... are all present, but only because the formal expressivity matters. The rest is left to the habitual associative thinking or to the one locked through time and to the reflexes of the Pavlovian literary associative thinking. The artist has no desire to desire to manipulate them though, except through his own forms and form associations, and only when they need it for the expression.
The decoration is moving on the verge of expressivity, though mysteriously the former is the
defining one. Their emphasis or their repression greatly contributes to the development of the
individuality in his pictures and his visual world. Are the forms floating in currents or in nothing?
The problems, the thoughts, what are they made of? Are they made of the recorded time?
Laszlo Feszt's graphics capture time, the time which we perceive as non-existent in his
works. The textures and factures are like grains of sand timers, which patiently, deliberately,
stand side by side. Or it might be a visual choreography created in a sort of meditative state
by concentrating on the rhythm of the music, tuned to the universe of the shaman's drum,
describing a rhythm of life feeding from a sequential circle of life.
It is like some ancient music sheet that marks life's resonances. Perhaps this is mostly how Feszt connects to life, this is how he satisfies the circle of life.
