THE BENEFITS OF NUCLEAR ENERGY
The only clean, safe energy source capable of ensuring the continuation of our
industrial civilization while protecting the environment.

Nuclear energy is a clean, safe, reliable and competitive energy source. It is the only
source of energy that can replace a significant part of the fossil fuels (coal, oil and
gas) which massively pollute the atmosphere and contribute to the greenhouse effect.
If we want to be serious about climate change and the end of oil, we must promote the
more efficient use of energy, we must use renewable energies – wind and solar –
wherever possible, and adopt a more sustainable life style. But this will not be nearly
enough to slow the accumulation of atmospheric CO2, and satisfy the needs of our
industrial civilization and the aspirations of the developing nations. Nuclear power
should be deployed rapidly to replace coal, oil and gas in the industrial countries, and
eventually in developing countries
An intelligent combination of energy conservation, and renewable energies for local
low-intensity applications, and nuclear energy for base-load electricity production, is
the only viable way for the future.
Tomorrow’s nuclear electric power plants will also provide power for electric
vehicles for cleaner transportation. With the new high temperature reactors we will be
able to recover fresh water from the sea and support hydrogen production.
We believe that the opposition of some environmental organizations to civilian
applications of nuclear energy will soon be revealed to have been among the greatest
mistakes of our times.

अणुऊर्जेचे फायदे
पर्यावरणाचे संरक्षण करतानाच आपल्या उद्योजकीय सुधारणा सुरू ठेवण्याची हमी देऊ शकणारा एकमेव स्वच्छ, सुरक्षित ऊर्जा स्त्रोत.

अणुऊर्जा हा स्वच्छ, सुरक्षित, विश्वसनीय व स्पर्धात्मक ऊर्जा स्त्रोत आहे. वातावरणाचे प्रचंड प्रदूषण करणार्‍या व हरितगृह परिणामात भर टाकणार्‍या जीवाष्म इंधनाची (कोळसा, तेल व वायू) जागा मोठ्या प्रमाणावर घेऊ शकेल असा तो एकमेव ऊर्जा स्त्रोत आहे.
जर आपण हवामातील बदल व तेलसाठा संपुष्टात येण्याबद्दल गंभीरतेने विचार करणार असलो, तर आपण ऊर्जेच्या अधिक कार्यक्षम वापरावर भर दिलाच पाहिजे. आपण शक्य तेथे पुनर्वापराजोगे ऊर्जा स्त्रोत - पवन व सौर - वापरले पाहिजेत, व अधिक काळ टिकू शकणारी जीवनशैली अंगिकारली पाहिजे. पण हे वातावतणातील कर्बद्विप्राणिल वायू जमा होणे हळू करणे, आपल्या उद्योजकीय सुधारणांच्या गरजा पुरवणे व प्रगतिशील राष्ट्रांच्या आकांक्षांच्या पूर्तीकरिता पुरेसे नाही. कोळसा, तेल व वायू यांच्या बदली अणुऊर्जेचा वापर प्रगत राष्ट्रांमधे व सरतेशेवटी प्रगतिशील राष्ट्रांमधे सुरू करणे आवश्यक आहे.
ऊर्जा बचतीचे उपाय व पुनर्वापराजोग्या ऊर्जा स्त्रोतांचा स्थानिक कमी-तीव्र गरजांकरिता वापर यांचे हुषारीने मिश्रण व मूळ-भार विद्युत उत्पादनाकरिता अणुऊर्जा, हाच भविष्यासाठी योग्य मार्ग आहे.
उद्याची आण्विक विद्युत निर्मिती केंद्रे अप्रदूषणकारी वाहतुकीकरिता विद्युतचलित वाहनांकरिताही वीज पुरवतील, नवीन उच्च तापमानाच्या अणुभट्ट्यांमुळे मुळे आपण सागराच्या पाण्यापसून गोडे पाणी मिळवू शकू व हायड्रोजनची निर्मिती करू शकू.
काही पर्यावरणवादी संस्थांचा मुलकी गरजांकरिता अणुऊर्जेच्या वापराला असणारा विरोध ही आपल्या काळची मोठी घोडचूक असल्याचे निष्पन्न होईल, असा आमचा विश्वास आहे.
