Almost sixty percent of Dutch people think that our country gives too much money towards development work.

That's according to research by onzeWereld, the monthly journal on development and the Third World.

The Netherlands gives 0.7 percent of its Gross National Product to development work, now approximately four billion euro.

According to the study three quarters of the Dutch population are annoyed by the recruitment policies of charity organisations. The Dutch are fed up with receiving phone calls, being grabbed on the street and getting personal mails, the researchers found.
