A new official body, taking care of the needs and addressing the problems of Poles, has been set up in the Highlands.

The Polish Scottish Union in Highland is a break-away group from the Inverness Polish Association and has ambitious plans which its members felt were being blocked at the existing organisation. (...) The decision to split from IPA was not an easy one to take, revealed Sylwia. “We were leaving something that made sense to us…” she recalled. “We went with Darek, Aldona and Andrzej to the shores of Loch Ness to have a long, serious chat.” Andrzej added: “It was a very strong board.” The union officials admit they felt they had done a lot of useful work while with the board of the association. Aldona, a law graduate, pointed out: “I myself was heavily involved in preparing the organisation’s statutory documents. But despite our efforts, our initiatives were mostly ignored. We also had particular reservations, that we feel had not then been satisfactorily addressed - for example about not having an auditing committee at the IPA,” she added.

“Sadly, there was not enough time to clarify everything during our meetings,” revealed Z. W-F, chair of IPA. But she also stressed: “IPA is run according to Scottish law. It has specific requirements that are different to the ones that people are used to in Poland and we comply with those laws in every way as can be verified by the Scottish Executive.”

W Inverness zarejestrowana została nowa polska organizacja, Zjednoczenie Polonii Szkockiej w Highland.

„Pojechaliśmy z Darkiem, Aldoną i Andrzejem nad Loch Ness i odbyliśmy długą, poważną rozmowę”.
