Translation - English 1000Base Technology
1000Base, also called �gGigabit Ethernet,�h as the name implies, is 1Gps (1000Mbps) Ethernet and uses CSMA/CD to retain compatibility with 10Mbps and 100Mbps Ethernet. Through standardization of IEEE802.3z, Draft 5.1 was ratified on June 26, 1998. However, the promise of increased speed may be difficult to achieve.
With 10Mbps/100Mbps, when sending 64 bytes, exactly 64 bytes is sent. In the case of 1000Mbps, 512 bytes are required to send the same 64 bytes. This results in 448 bytes of wasted bandwidth; in other words, the efficiency is only 12%. In the case of 10/100 Mbps, the efficiency is 76%. This is a fivefold efficiency improvement. Even with increased speed, there will not be a tenfold increase in performance. For Gigabit, Ethernet it would be necessary to modify applications to send data in larger packet sizes.
Due to this shortcoming, it�fs clear that collision-free full-duplex transmission should be implemented.
Full standardization was first expected in the spring of 1998 (around the end of March), but this was delayed to resolve 100Base-SX transmission problems with fiber cable in the United States. The quality problems turned out to be poor, unstable refractivity in the transmission medium�fs center core. This DMD problem, due to the light transmission instability, made impossible the guarantee of originally planned transmission distances of 260 meters.
As a workaround, a new CL method was defined which called for light to not pass through the core. The author feels that optical fiber in Japan is high quality and this problem should be avoidable in Japan, but still recommends attenuation testing.
Comparison with ATM: Merits/Demerits
Gigabit Ethernet is emerging as the favorite for LAN, while ATM is best suited to WAN implantations. There is a threefold difference in price: ATM has been around for quite some time, but Gigabit Ethernet is only one year old, but it�fs likely that Gigabit Ethernet products will be cheaper than ATM products in the future.
In LAN implementations, ATM is not fast because frames must be converted. ATM frames are small, at only 48 bytes in length. Of 53 bytes, 48 of these are actual data, making ATM more suitable for voice communications than data transmission. For data transmission, ATM is slower and more costly than Gigabit Ethernet. Therefore, in LAN implementations, Gigabit Ethernet is the clear favorite.

1. Time Perspective Research - Overview
Time perspective research has advanced our understanding of how people recognize time. The term �gtime perspective�h was first used by Frank (1939), and later defined by Lewin (1951) as �gthe complete view of a person�fs psychological past and future at a single point in time.�h From this history, time perspective research has advanced with all sorts of variables and relations, resulting in many interesting findings. For example, Minami-Mitsutomi (1990) state that for future perspective to lead to emotional well-being and a healthy personality, it is necessary to consider whether the individual feels positively about the future, as the perception of control over the future is considered to have an effect on sphere of perspective and concern for the present. Ohashi-Suzuki (1988) listed the past experience and probable future events in the lives of juvenile delinquents, and concluded that those who do not have a positive outlook on the past are also unable to imagine a positive future for themselves. Kimura (1982) stated that the feeling of passage of time and the feeling of one�fs self-existence are the same thing, and underscored the importance of the �ghere and now.�h Shostrom (1968) also regards the time capacity to make the connection of past and future as self-realization, and states that emotionally healthy individuals are those who, while maintaining connections to the past and the future, live in the present above all else, and these individuals have self-trust.
