HIV/AIDS represents a world wide health crisis affecting the entire human family. AIDS has no effective cure and no preventive vaccine. So knowledge about AIDS is our first line of defence against AIDS.

1) What is HIV? What is AIDS?

H - Human
I - Immuno deficiency
V - Virus

This is the virus which causes AIDS. It attacks the immune cells in the human body which help a person to fight against any diseases. As a result, the person falls prey to various infections.

AIDS is a group of variable signs and symptoms caused by the HIV virus.

A - Acquired
I - Immuno
D - Deficiency
S - Syndrome

2) What is the difference between HIV Infection and AIDS?

Any person harbouring HIV virus is called HIV positive or a HIV carrier. A person once infected with HIV remains so throughout his/her life time. HIV infocto individuals may appear absolutely normal apparently but they are capable of transmitting the infection to others.

AIDS is the end stage of HIV infection when the person’s immunity is very much reduced and he/she suffers from a variety of infections and ultimately dies.

इस वायरस के कारण एडस होता है। ये मानव शरीर के उन इम्यून कोशिकाओं पर आक्रमण करता है जिनकी सहायता से व्यक्ति बीमारियों से लड़ने की क्षमता प्राप्त करता है। परिणामस्वरुप व्यक्ति विभिन्न प्रकार के इन्फ़ेक्शन से ग्रसित हो जाता है।

एडस, एच आई वी वायरस के विभिन्न संकेतों और चिन्हों का एक समूह है।

2) एच आई वी संक्रमण और एडस में क्या अन्तर है?

कोई भी व्यक्ति जो एच आई वी वायरस रखता है उसे एच आई वी पॉजिटिव या एच आई वी वाहक कहते हैं। एक व्यक्ति अगर एक बार इस कीटाणु से ग्रसित हो गया तो जीवन भर रहता है। एच आई वी से ग्रसित व्यक्ति प्रारम्भ में बिल्कुल सामान्य लगते हैं, लेकिन लेकिन उनमे इस कीटाणु को अन्य लोगों में स्थानान्तरित करने की क्षमता होती है। एडस, एच आई वी की अन्तिम अवस्था है, जब व्यक्ति की इम्यूनिटी बहुत ज्यादा कम हो जाती है और वो विभिन्न प्रकार के संक्रमणों से ग्रसित हो जाता है और अन्त में उसकी मृत्यु हो जाती है।

At present I am working as a Hindi translator in an Internet marketing company. My mother tongue is Hindi so I don't have any problem in speaking Hindi fluently.
