GLOBAL LAUNCH ON NEW CABSTAR IN EUROPE.
The new Nissan Cabstar, to be launched in Europe in October, will be the first Nissan truck to use the company’s new global platform for light duty trucks.
The new LDT platform was developed by Nissan’s engineering division in Barcelona, Spain with collaboration of Nissan Light Duty Truck engineering in Japan. It will support Cabstar first, and the new generation light duty trucks that will follow in the future.
“To maximise efficiency, we will reduce our unique LCV platforms from the current eleven to only two: one for light duty trucks and one for panel vans” said Andy Palmer, Corporate Vice President of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. LCV Business Unit.
“In developing this new platform we kept our customers in mind and enhanced its ability to support vehicles that provide maximum performance in load capacity, manoeuvrability and cost of ownership” said Palmer.
The new Nissan LDT platform will support Cabstar’s award-winning full cabin over engine (COE) configuration, building on the Cabstar’s reputation for excellent balance between load-carrying capacity and in-town manoeuvrability.
Nissan engineers adopted a straight, light, and resistant ladder frame, which carries a series of benefits.
The combination of COE configuration and a light and durable frame enhances Cabstar’s load performance both in length and weight. This gives the customer the choice between greater load capacity on a similar vehicle length and same capacity on shorter vehicle length. It also enhances manoeuvrability in-town because it allows operators to carry the same load capacity on a shorter wheelbase.

Peroxisome Proliferator Activated Receptors (PPARs) are members of the nuclear hormone receptor superfamily. The PPARs are ligand-activated transcription factors that regulate gene expression and control multiple metabolic pathways. Three subtypes have been described which are PPAR[alpha], PPAR[delta] (also known as PPAR[beta]), and PPAR[gamma]. PPAR[delta] is ubiquitously expressed. PPAR[alpha] is predominantly expressed in the liver, kidney and heart. The PPARs modulate a variety of physiological responses including regulation of glucose- and lipid-homeostasis and metabolism, energy balance, cell differentiation, inflammation and cardiovascular events.
HDL mediates the removal of cholesterol from cells in peripheral tissues including those in the atherosclerotic lesions of the arterial wall. The estimated age-adjusted prevalence among Americans age 20 and older who have HDL-C of less than 35 mg/dl is 16% (males) and 5.7% (females). A substantial increase of HDL-C is currently achieved by treatment with niacin in various formulations. However, the substantial side-effects limit the therapeutic potential of this approach.
