Languages:
Fluent:
Canadian French (Officially bilingual)
Swedish (Passed state integration exams)

High Intermediate:
Russian (Two years university level studies)

Rusty!:
Tamil (Language studied during first Masters)

Also some Spanish, Arabic, Japanese and Singhalese (picked up mostly while working on development projects or research related field-studies).

English is my mother tongue and a language I structurally understand very well. I have worked as an English teacher in a Sri Lankan community and for Sweden's distinguished Royal Technical University (www.kth.se). I have also published research in English several times (details of which you will see on my CV) and hope to publish my first novel sometime in the future. Should you need help editing a document, just drop me a line!

I have translated all sorts of documents for the Stockholm Film Festival since 1998 and have also recently assisted a Swedish College with an article intended for publication, among other things. Both of these have been translated to English from the original text (French and Swedish). I do this only as a way to keep up my languages. This means my rates are extremely reasonable ... and very often even close to free! In the future, I may look to doing this more seriously, but for now am honing my skills.

Thanks for all the help from those experts out there who have anwered my questions through this site.

RATE INFORMATION: I have applied minumum suggested rates, but am open to discussion particularly for NGOs and other non-profit organizations. I do a lot of volunteer work in general and as I enjoy languages very much, I could be convinced to help out for the right cause - just ask!
Keywords: Good-hearted Canadian enjoys volunteer translating at as a method of nurturing existant language skills (for a good cause of course). Loves film, politics, and anything that brings the two of them together!
