Source text - Mandarin Chinese 从机场到荷西租下已经半个月的房子，有一段距离，一路上，因为我的箱子和书刊都很重，我们走得很慢，沿途偶尔开过几辆车，我们伸手要搭车，没有人停下来。走了快四十分种，我们转进一个斜坡，到了一条硬路上，这才看见了炊烟和人家。荷西在风里对我说：“你看，这就是阿雍城的外围，我们的家就在下面。”远离我们走过的路旁，搭着几十个千疮百孔的大帐篷，也有铁皮做的小屋，沙地里有少数几只单峰骆驼和成群的山羊。我第一次看见了这些总爱穿深蓝色布料的民族，对于我而言，这是走进另外一个世界的幻境里去了。风里带过来小女孩们游戏时发出的笑声。有了人的地方，就有了说不出的生气和趣味。生命，在这样荒僻落后而贫苦的地方，一样欣欣向荣的滋长着，它，并不是挣扎着在生存，对于沙漠的居民而言，他们在此地的生老病死都好似是如此自然的事。我看着那些上升的烟火，觉得他们安详得近乎优雅起来。自由自在的生活，在我的解释里，就是精神的文明。
Translation - Italian Dall’aeroporto a casa nostra la strada era lunga e andavamo piano perché i bagagli ci appesantivano. Provammo persino a fare l’autostop con le macchine che ogni tanto passavano lungo la strada ma nessuno si fermò. Dopo una quarantina di minuti, iniziarono a intravedersi le prime case e del fumo che usciva dai
loro camini. «Quella che vedi è la periferia di El Aaiún. Casa
nostra è proprio là» riuscii a sentire in mezzo al sibilo del vento.
Mi sembrava di essere entrata in un mondo incantato. Lontano dal ciglio della strada dove eravamo noi, vidi una decina di tende beduine malridotte e alcune casette in lamiera e, tra le dune
sabbiose, riconobbi qualche dromedario e diversi greggi di capre. Incontrai anche i primi abitanti del deserto, i saharawi, avvolti nelle loro stoffe di colore blu scuro che amavano tanto indossare. Il vento portò fino a noi il suono cristallino delle risate di alcune
bambine che probabilmente stavano giocando. Ovunque ci sia gente, c’è sempre una vitalità contagiosa e persino in un posto così primitivo la vita prosperava senza essere percepita come una continua lotta alla sopravvivenza. Nascere e morire qui era una cosa del tutto naturale per queste persone e, guardando il fumo salire alto nel cielo, pensai che c’era una certa grazia nella loro serenità.
