In this paper I will try to show that both Serbian and English have words of foreign origin and that languages are always subject to change. With analysis of previous linguistic studies I will conclude whether English has more or less foreign words than Serbian as that is a key point of this paper. Analysis includes books, papers and internet sources from our own as well as experts form other countries. Throughout the paper I will also make a case to why we need to protect our language because languages are changing. Although Serbia and Anglophone countries are geographically apart, they both had contact with both Roman and Greek culture and language mostly through ancient scripts and church records and books. It is worth mentioning that Latin and Greek were the only languages used in schools and intellectuals for long, especially in the renaissance and because of the influence of the church and that is where we can see more contact between those languages.
