I was told Coconut Island was developing fast. Presumably this meant it was a once pristine island on the downhill slope to environmental ruin caused by uncontrolled tourist development. Perhaps they meant it in a more positive light. I wasn’t sure. I went there to find out.
Driving down the east coast expressway, you don’t see much. The landscape is pretty flat most of the way with just a few trees and roadside shacks selling pineapples. Oh, and of course the usual construction teams in the never-ending process of widening and ‘improving’ the road. However, once you get to the end of the road and the ferry terminal, you look across the sea and see a huge mountainous, almost forbidding, island rising up in front of you. I felt a frisson of excitement, or was I just a bit nervous, as I had also just seen a rusting car ferry approaching the small pier?
We crossed without mishap, but left the ferry stuck behind a convoy of trucks carrying construction materials ready to concrete over this beautiful island. From the ferry stop, the road rises abruptly over a small hill and then as it comes down the other side we enter tourist land. Although we knew the sparkling white beach was just metres from the road, we were denied a first sight for quite some time. Not by rows of palm trees but by rows of shops selling tourist tat. We couldn’t even see these too well because of all the dust thrown up by the trucks. Fortunately the tourist shops thinned out within 20 minutes and shortly afterwards we arrived at our destination: Seaview Resort. We weren’t disappointed. We had been promised fine white sand and clear turquoise water and we got it. Only problem was there was just a few feet of white sand and that was mostly covered in beach towels from the overweight European tourists who had got there before us. Ah well not to worry, we could explore up the beach for a quiet spot later. We checked out the rooms and facilities and everything was just as you would expect from a mid-range hotel. It also had quite a nice little restaurant right on the beach and therefore great for a cold beer and our first sunset – perfect!
The following morning after cold bacon and eggs for breakfast it seemed that the same people from yesterday were hogging the sun beds and beach space again so we decided to walk down the beach and explore a little further afield. In actual fact I was very pleasantly surprised. I was expecting the whole beach to be lined with resorts packed side to side but actually on this beach there was still plenty of space for developers. The closest buildings to us were a couple of beachside family-run cheap and cheerful restaurants with bamboo chairs and tables. At 300 metres away, they were also just too far away for most of the package tourists. And this was generally where we spent most of our days. An added bonus was that at the shack – White Sands to give it its official name (the name was on a piece of driftwood tacked to a nearby palm tree), the food was far, far superior to the resort. Whereas the resort chefs had removed any local flavour from their creations, the White Sands staff had managed to keep their food authentic.

Mi era stato detto che l’Isola di Coconut si stava sviluppando velocemente. Questo presumibilmente significa che prima fosse un’isola incontaminata sul versante in discesa verso una rovina ambientale causata dal flusso incontrollato di turisti. Forse lo intendevano in senso positivo. Non ne ero sicura. Andai quindi lì per scoprirlo.
Guidando sull’autostrada della costa est, non hai la possibilità di vedere molto.
Il paesaggio è piuttosto piano per la maggior parte della strada, con giusto qualche albero e delle baracche in cui si vendono ananas. Oh, e ovviamente i soliti gruppi di costruzione nell’interminabile processo di ampliamento e “miglioramento” della strada. Comunque, una volta che si arriva alla fine della strada e al terminal dei traghetti , guardando attraverso il mare si vede un’enorme montagnosa, quasi ostile, isola che si erge proprio di fronte a te. Ho sentito un brivido di emozione, o forse ero solo un po' nervosa, poiché avevo appena visto un traghetto arrugginito approcciarsi al piccolo molo?
La traversata non ha avuto contrattempi, ma ci siamo lasciati dietro il traghetto bloccato dietro un convoglio di camion che trasportava materiali da costruzione pronto per cementare questa bellissima isola. Dalla fermata del traghetto, la strada sale bruscamente su una piccola collina e poi mentre si scende dall’altra parte, siamo entrati nella zona turistica. Sebbene sapessimo che la spiaggia bianca brillante fosse a pochi metri dalla strada, non abbiamo potuto vederla per un bel po'di tempo. Non per colpa della fila di alberi di palma, ma per la fila di negozi che proponevano tatuaggi ai turisti. Non potevamo nemmeno vederli così bene a causa di tutta la polvere sollevata dai camion. Fortunatamente i negozi per i turisti svanirono nel giro di 20 minuti e poco dopo siamo arrivati alla nostra destinazione: il Resort Seaview. Non eravamo delusi, ci era stata promessa una spiaggia con sottile sabbia bianca e acqua turchese, e l’avevamo. L’unico problema era che c’erano solo pochi centimetri di sabbia bianca poiché il resto era coperto da teli mare dai turisti europei in sovrappeso, che erano giunti lì prima di noi. Ah beh, nessun problema, avremmo potuto esplorare la spiaggia in cerca di un posto più tranquillo più tardi. Abbiamo dato un’occhiata alle nostre stanze e alla struttura, e tutto era esattamente come c’era da aspettarsi da un hotel di fascia media. C’era anche un piccolo ristorante proprio sulla spiaggia, ideale per una birra al nostro primo tramonto-grandioso!
La mattina seguente dopo una colazione a base di pancetta fredda e uova, sembrava che le stesse persone di ieri stessero già monopolizzando di nuovo i lettini e lo spazio della spiaggia, quindi abbiamo deciso di camminare lungo la spiaggia ed esplorare qualche posto lontano. A dire il vero, ero piacevolmente sorpresa. Mi aspettavo che l’intera spiaggia fosse tappezzata di resort messi uno a fianco all’altro ma in realtà rimaneva ancora molto spazio per i costruttori. Gli edifici più vicini a noi erano un paio di ristoranti molto economici ed allegri ristoranti a gestione familiare, con sedie di bamboo e tavoli. A 300 metri di distanze, erano molto lontani per la maggior parte dei pacchetti turistici. È qui fu proprio dove spendemmo la maggior parte delle nostre giornate. Un ulteriore vantaggio fu che alla capanna Sabbie Bianche, da cui prende il suo nome ufficiale (il nome era scritto su un pezzo di attaccato a un albero di palme vicino), la qualità del cibo era di gran lunga superiore a quella del resort. Mentre gli chef del resort avevano praticamente tolto tutto il sapore locale dalle loro creazioni, lo staff del Sabbie Bianche era riuscito a mantenere il suo cibo autentico.

How to check the leakage?

Sorry to hear your issue.
In order to solve your issue effectively, please take some minutes to trouble shoot as below points:
1. Open the top cover of the gauge(on the chamber);
2. Tighten the joint and keep seal;
3. keep the chamber cover clean,and press the cover tightly to let it suck the chamber;
4. Please check if there is a leakage resulting in this case:
① There is something leak, according to the instructions to determine the leak point (pump, pipe joints, barrels), if it is barrel leak, and then check which specific parts of the leak (table, valve, silicone ring), we will send you the relevant accessories.
② Silicone rings may be dusty and please clean or wipe it with water.
③ When you vacuum, please press the silicone ring.
④ Uneven edge of vacuum chamber will lead to leakage (the possibility is relatively smallbecause of full inspection), if it is, we will resend a new barrel to you.

Processo di installazione

1. Installare i piedini regolabili sulla parte inferiore della staffa (far riferimento alla figura sottostante)
2. Installare i pezzi di collegamento alle estremità senza filettatura del telaio del tubo grande espandibile (come in figura)
3. Installare le estremità senza filettatura dei tubi piccoli espandibili nei raccordi e poi serrarli con le manopole (come in figura)
4. Installare l'intero telaio espandibile con le staffe
5. Installare le tavole espandibili con le staffe, come indicato nel disegno;
6. Appendere i ganci alla staffa;
Se lo scaffale appare irregolare quando posizionato su un ripiano, si prega di
regolarlo da qui.

Crepa sul coperchio della camera sottovuoto

Grazie per le informazioni che ci ha fornito.
Dopo aver effettuato un controllo, abbiamo scoperto che il coperchio da Lei acquistato è un coperchio acrilico, che potrebbe quindi avere una reazione chimica con alcuni solventi come il succo di cactus, il veleno di Gator, la cera minerale, l'alcool, l'etanolo, l'acetone, come da foto allegata sulla pagina di descrizione del prodotto.
Detto ciò, vorremmo fornire qui di seguito due soluzioni, a Sua scelta:
1. Potremmo ancora inviarLe il coperchio acrilico, ma La preghiamo di notare che queste crepe potrebbero verificarsi di nuovo se lavora con alcuni dei solventi menzionati, quali il succo di cactus, il veleno di Gator, la cera minerale, l'alcool, l'etanolo, l'acetone e così via.
2. Potremmo inviarLe il coperchio in vetro temperato. Se la sua scelta dovesse essere questa, si prega di installare il manometro sul lato ed effettuare da Lei un foro sulla camera.

Come controllare la perdita?
Gentile cliente,
Siamo spiacenti per l’inconveniente accaduto.
Al fine di risolvere il Suo problema in modo efficace, La preghiamo di dedicare alcuni minuti alla lettura dei punti che seguono:
1. Aprire il coperchio superiore del misuratore (sulla camera);
2. Stringere la giuntura e tenerla sigillata;
3. Mantenere pulito il coperchio della camera e premerlo saldamente affinché riesca ad aspirare;
4. Controllare se si verifica una perdita. In tal caso:
• Seguire le istruzioni per identificare il punto di perdita (pompa, giunti dei tubi, serbatoio). Se si tratta di una perdita del serbatoio, controllare in quali parti specifiche è avvenuta (tavola, valvola, anello in silicone), e noi provvederemo ad inviarLe i relativi pezzi.
• Gli anelli di silicone possono essere polverosi. Si invita a pulirli o sciacquarli con acqua.
• In fase di aspirazione, tenere premuto l'anello in silicone.

Hello there!
My name is Elisabetta, I'm a native Italian speaker, writer and professional translator and proofreader.
I have worked as a Translator for the past eight years, so I got the chance to translate texts of all kinds, including medical and legal documents, instructions, emails, novels, letters, articles, blogs, and so on, from English into Italian and vice versa, so have the right skills to offer your open position. This is why I have decided to join this platform.
Along with translations, I work as proofreader and editor as well, and constantly write books, articles and lesson plans for English lessons (as I got the TEFL certificate in October).
I’ve got a Bachelor degree in Foreign languages, and lived in UK for two years, where I worked as Hotel Receptionist for a full year, and then as Customer Service Consultant, so I’m quite used to working under pressure, problem solving, dealing with people as well as managing and completing all the tasks in the best possible way.
The experience in UK also enabled me to improve my English level to a C1, and to develop a very fast and efficient translation and interpreting mechanism so that now I do translations very quiclky and work with more acknowledgement.
