مخطئ جدًا الذي قال لنا ولملايين قبلنا: الدموع للمرأة، أما الرجل فلا!
لا بد أن يكون صاحب هذه النصيحة قد لاحظ أن المرأة تبكي كثيرًا ولسبب ولغير سبب، وأن الدموع التي تذرفها المرأة كثيرة جدًا.
وأن الرجل لا يستطيع أن يجاريها في هذا، وأنه من الأفضل أن يكف عن المحاولة، فأصبح البكاء عادة وضرورة ولحنًا مميزًا للمرأة، وعيبًا عند الرجل.
وربما لا يعرف الناس أن الدموع نعمة كبرى فهي تغسل العين وتجلوها وتجعلها أكثر لمعانًا، والمرأة عندما تبكي فإنها تخفف توترها العصبي والدموع تريحها.
أما الرجل فإنه مع الأسف لا يعرف كيف يبكي، إنه يغلي في الداخل تمامًا كإناء يغلي ويتبخر ويحبس البخار في نفسه. أما الغليان في داخل المرأة فإنه يصادف جسمًا باردًا فيتحول البخار إلى قطرات من الدموع، وإذا كانت المرأة تنفجر بالدموع فإن الرجل ينفجر فقط.
ولذلك فهموم الرجال تقتلهم، وهموم النساء تريحهن وتعطيهن خبرة وقدرة على تحمل هموم أخرى أكبر، وقد يموت الرجل من هم واحد ينفجر داخله ولا تموت المرأة من عشرات الهموم لأنها تبكي.
أيها الرجال ابكوا، ابكوا تطل أعماركم. | Translation - English
Very wrong he was whoever told us and millions of people before us: "Tears are for women, not for men!"
The person behind this advice must have noticed that women cry a lot, for a reason or without a reason, and that they shed so many tears.
He must have also noticed that men cannot compete with women in this, and that they better stop trying. Thus crying became a habit and a necessity for women, and their special melody. But for men, it became a flaw.
People may not know that tears are a grand blessing, for they wash and cleanse the eye and make it more shiny. Women also sooth their anxiety by crying and tears comfort them.
However, men unfortunately do not know how to cry. They boil in the inside just like a pot that holds vapor inside. Vapor inside women on the other hand finds a cold surface so it turns into droplets of tears. Thus, women burst into tears, while men only burst.
That is why the sorrows of men kill them, while the sorrows of women comfort them and give them experience and the capability to endure greater sorrows. A man could die of a single sorrow that explodes inside him while a women endures tens of sorrows for she cried.
Cry, men, cry and your ages shall prolong.

To many critics Jane Austen's omission of certain important aspects of the life of her time is a stumbling block which they seem unable to avoid; Arnold Kettle discusses a point which to him seems a serious problem.
He thinks that it does not matter at all that Jane Austen's vision is limited so long as it is not narrow. It is true: her vision was limited due to her total lack of experience of affairs lying outside her own life and her own class. But unfortunately Kettle thinks that her vision was also narrow.
He believes that because Jane Austen accepted the limitations of class society she is in some way an inadequate writer. But this argument is not fair, for how can we expect Jane Austen to be aware of the pressing problem of class division without encountering it.
Born to accept social distinctions and privileges, she would be hardly expected to formulate a system of reform for social injustices. Arnold Kettle seems to be judging her from a very modern point of view. She ignores class divisions or rather ignores the fact that class division is a social evil, because she believe in social hierarchy. | Translation - Arabic
إن اغفال جين أوستين لبعض سمات الحياة في عصرها عقبة كبيرة بالنسبة لكثير من النقاد، ويبدو أنهم غير قادرين على تجاوزها، فيناقش أرنولد كيتل نقطة تبدو بالنسبة له مشكلة خطيرة.
يعتقد كيتل أن محدودية نظرة جين أوستين لا تهمنا طالما أن نظرتها ليست ضيقة. صحيحٌ أن نظرتها كانت محدودة وذلك يعود إلى النقص العام لديها في الخبرة في الشئون الواقعة خارج حياتها وطبقتها الاجتماعية، إلا أن كيتل مع الأسف يظن أن نظرتها كانت كذلك ضيقة.
فهو يظن أن قبول جين أوستين لقيود المجتمع الطبقي جعلها كاتبة غير كفأة. لكن هذه الحجة غير منصفة، فكيف جاز لنا أن نتوقع أن تعي جون أوستين مشكلة التقسيم الاجتماعي الحرجة دون أن تتعرض لها.
تمت تنشئة جين أوستين بحيث تقبل الفروق والامتيازات الاجتماعية، فبالكاد يمكننا أن نتوقع منها صياغة نظام لاصلاح المظالم الاجتماعية. يبدو أن كيتل يحكم عليها من وجهة نظر عصرية جدًا، فهي تتجاهل التقسيمات الطبقية أو بالأحرى تتجاهل حقيقة أن التقسيم الطبقي هو أحد شرور مجتمعها، لأنها تؤمن بالهرمية الاجتماعية. |

A 1600-strong Egyptian brigade serving with the United Nations peacekeeping force in Somalia will begin a phased withdrawal tomorrow from the strife-torn country, a military source said.
The withdrawal of the Egyptians, who are armed with mortars and anti-tank missiles, is in line with a UN decision to terminate the mandate of its peacekeepers in Somalia, the source added. They will be flown home aboard Egyptian C-130 transport aircraft.
The Egyptian contribution to the 26-nation UN force was the third largest after Pakistan and India.
Using Egyptian-made Fahd armored personnel carriers, the Egyptians had been assigned the key tasks of securing Mogadishu airport and harbor, through which all supplies and relief aid had to be channeled. They also guarded Mogadishu University along two main roads that divide the capital into northern and southern sections. | Translation - Arabic

In the anatomy of language, conjunctions are the very joints and ligaments; without them no argument could stand, nor could rhetoric flex its muscles. We say of a person in speech that he is "articulate" - meaning that he can work the limbs and joints of language. Contrast this with that other word of approval for an easy talker - "fluent".
The two words are a brief commentary on the outward effect and the inward reality of linguistic skill. Good discourse must, to the reader, seem to "flow"; for the writer it is meticulously "jointed".
The movements of articulate discourse flow in the exercise of composition, but let a ligament be sprained or a joint be dislocated - let "for and "whereas" fail in their function - then the grace goes out of it, and we limp and shuffle miserably. | Translation - Arabic
عند تشريح اللغة، نجد أن أدوات الربط تمثل المفاصل والأربطة، فلا يستطيع المتحدث أن يقيم حجة أو يستعرض عضلاته في البيان إلا بهما. فنصف حديث شخص ما بأنه فصيح بمعنى أن هذا الشخص يستطيع التحكم بأطراف اللغة ومفاصلها، على النقيض من الصفة الأخرى التي نستخدمها لنمدح شخصًا يجيد التكلم بسلاسة، وهي الطلاقة.
تشرح الكلمتان باقتضاب التأثير الخارجي والحقيقة الجوهرية للمهارة للغوية. فلا بد للخطاب الجيد أن يبدو "متدفقًا" للقارئ، بينما يبدو "مربوطًا" بدقة للكاتب.
يتدفق مسار الخطاب الفصيح أثناء عملية صياغته، لكن إن تركنا رباطًا أو مفصلًا ينخلع، كأن

الكاتب كالمصور كلاهما ناقل وكلاهما حاكٍ، إلا أن الأول ينقل مشاعر النفس إلى النفس، والثاني ينقل الحس إلى الحس. وكما أن ميزان الفضل في التصوير أن تكون الصورة والأصل كالشيء الواحد، كذلك ميزان الفضل في الكتابة أن يكون المكتوب في السطر خيال المكنون في النفس.
بهذه العين التي أزال أنظر بها دائمًا إلى الكتابة والكتاب أوازن بها بين أقدارهم ومنازلهم. فكنت أقرأ ذلك الأسلوب العذب البديع الذي كان يكتب به المرحوم جرجي زيدان كتبه ورواياته، فأتخيله مرآة نقية صافية قد ارتسمت فيها صورة نفسه جلية واضحة لا غموض فيها ولا إبهام.
وقليلًا ما كنت أجد في نفسي هذا الشعور عند النظر في كتابة سواه لأن الكاتب إن استطاع أن ينال ثناء الناس واعجابهم ببلاغة لفظه أو براعة معناه أو سعة خياله أو قوة حجته، فإنه لا يستطيع أن ينال الثقة في نفوسهم إلا إذا كان من الصادقين المخلصين. كنت أرى عذوبة نفسه في عذوبة لفظه وطهارة قلبه، في طهارة لسانه وصفاء ذهنه، في وضوع أغراضه ومراميه وجمال ذوقه، في جمال ملاحظاته واستنتاجاته، وكان خير ما يعجبني فيه ترفعه عن مجاراة المتكبرين من كتاب الألفاظ لأنه كان يؤثر أن يتعلم منه الجاهلون على أن يرضى عنه المتحذلقون.

A writer is like a photographer. Both undertake the process of transferring something: the first transfers what’s in his heart, while the latter transfers what he sees. And the standard of writing is the equivalence between what is written and the imagination inside the writer, just as the standard of photography is the equivalence between the photograph and the object.
Under these standards I have always viewed writing and writers to measure their values. I read that sublime and creative style that the late Jurji Zaydan wrote his books and novels with, imagining him as a pure mirror that reflects his spirit clearly and evidently with no ambiguity or vagueness.
I rarely experienced the same feeling when reading the writings of others. For a writer can gain the praise and approval of people with his rhetoric, expressions, imagination, and arguments, but not their trust unless he is sincerely faithful.
The sublimity of his soul was manifested to me in the sublimity of his words, the pureness of his heart and tongue, the serenity of his mind, the clarity of his aims, the beauty of his taste, the loveliness of his notes and conclusions, and the best of all: his refusal to follow the conceited who write nothing more than rhetoric. Rather, he prioritized teaching the ignorant instead of satisfying the pedantic.
