Source text - English The roots of open warfare in Darfur
The territory of Darfur remained a scene of conflict for ages, between the Arab and African residents initially, to later on involve armed forces that call upon the rights of the vulnerable, marginalized people and a dictatorship government that executed various genocidal acts of ethnic cleansing, immortalized in the pages of history as one of the most heinous racial crimes of the century, a war that is yet to be sealed, so what fuelled its flames? And how did it evolve over time with involvement of the externalities? And how did the Sudanese people react to it?
Why War?
There have been many claims concerning the first spark of war in the Darfur region, but the picture is still fuzzy, primarily due to the local media blackout that purposely ignored the issues of the western region for many years, faked its reality, and intentionally delivered it like how the government wants, and the lack of detailed chronology and documentation of the tragic events by the people who’ve experienced it due to their continuous engagement in war and the constant pursuit of their rights till the present day, but every story has an opening, and the outset of the story of Darfur, based on the very limited available sources, conveys the following:
Some claimed that the strife began between two tribes over the water and land, one of which owns the land and is involved in agriculture, and the other is a nomadic tribe that roams around with cattle, looking for pastures, moreover, they’re ethnically different as their roles suggest, however, this alone is not sufficient to claim that the dispute is merely racial, as this would mean that racial disputes could arise between any two tribes even if their roots are entangled at their termination, but the reason of conflict over resources is considered the spark that initiated the fire.
Others claimed that the crisis is associated with the war of South-Sudan, but diving in its details requires a whole separate article, what’s worth mentioning however, is that both conflicts look alike, and that the three parties, the militias, Sudanese government and the Christians and pagans of the south engaged in violent clashes with each other, more than once.
However, the most important assertion in which most people believed, is the fact that this catastrophe is directly aligned with the arrival of ‘Al Ingath’ government in 1989, as it conducted a political exclusion policy of every non-arab from the governance structures, and it didn’t even stop there, but also neglected the areas populated with non-arabs, given the name ‘Alzurqa’, purposely not providing them with the basics of life, a series of discriminatory actions that lead to the people of Darfur standing up using weapon force to restore their rights, upon which formed several armed forces resisting the government; ‘Aljabha Althaorya’, ‘Al Adl wal Musawa’, ‘Altahrer wal Adl’ supported by Chad, Eritrea, Libya, Uganda and South-Sudan. The year 2003 was the official birth date of the war of Darfur.
The government’s attitude towards the militias
The government attempted to use a policy against the militias based on the armed forces killing each other, but the government’s official army was no match to these forces, totally outmanned and outgunned, due to its separation in different regions including the south and the west for the same security reasons, and it was defeated several times at fierce conflict, due to the militia adopting a gang war-like tactic, the hit and hide method was extremely effective as they knew their territories well, these incursions revealed the governmental forces lack of experience in direct conflict, and the most major of these was the incursion of Alfashir, in which the militias raided a military outpost at the break of dawn, on the 25th of April, 2003, and inflicted a crushing defeat that was never seen before in the history of their combat.
The government then formed a special force- supported by China and Iran at that time- to effectively confront the militias, and carry out genocidal acts simultaneously, then another militia was formed; ‘Aljanjaweed’ who are the arabs of ‘AlBaqaara’ tribe, they were previously hired by the government-together with “Almaraheel” in the south- to overcome the rebellion of “AlMasaleet” that continued till 1999 and for the same reasons, and despite the government’s denial of support to this militia, it was described by other troops inside Darfur as a fully integrated military force!.
The government then worked on clearing its irrefutable role in the war, aided by the media and the leading Islamic chieftains, to draw a totally different picture in the minds of the northerners and the rest of the Sudanese, even the educated and the intellectuals, have dealt with the hellish situation of Darfur with varying degrees of ignorance and denial, while many of the northerners reacted with extreme insouciance, sedated by the poison of racism injected by the government and even put into educative textbooks; It’s flagrant lies are based on the fact that the conflict over the limited resources was exaggerated by the US in a conspiracy to distort Islam, divide Sudan and draw attention away from Iraq and Palestine, leaving behind a sharp blade of racism between “Aljanjaweed” and the armed forces that comes and goes across the neck of Darfur till the present day.
When will the war end?
Darfur, the birthplace of the Islamic African civilization, went through hell on earth thanks to a group of hypocrites who ran the country for thirty years, during which they planted the seeds of racial discrimination and caste warfare in the minds of Sudanese people across different generations, all for the greed of authority, and arrogance of power. The war of Darfur is a purely ethnical one, just like the conflicts in South-Sudan, and the ones in the eastern region, a psychological war in the first place. Will the war end? Or will it continue like the war of South-Sudan setting up a new record as the longest war in the African continent?

جذور الحرب المفتوحة في دارفور
ظلّ إقليم دارفور مهـداً و مسرحـاً للنزاعـات ردحـاً من الزمن ، بين سكانه العرب و الأفـارقـة بادئ الأمـر ، ثم لتتطور الحكاية بعد ذلك و يصبح الصـراع بين قـواتٍ مسلحـة تنـادي بحقوق المستضعفين المهمشيـن و حكومـةٍ دكتاتوريّة تمـارس عمليَّـات التطهير العرقـي ،مخلدةً على صفحـة التـاريخ أبشـع جرائم العنصـرية في القـرن ،حَربٌ ضروسٌ مفتوحـة حتى الآن فما الذي أجّجَ نيرانهـا ؟ و كيـف تطورت مـع مرور الزمن و تدخُّـل العوامـلِ الخارجيـة ؟ و كيف كانت ردة فعـل بقيـة السـودانيين تجـاههـا ؟
لماذا الحـرب ؟
هنـاك مزاعـمُ كثيـرة حـول ماهيـة الشرارة الأولـى التـي أوقـدت نيران الحـرب في إقليم دارفور ، و الرؤيـة حتـى الآن ، ضبابيّـة، أولاً للتعتيـم الإعـلامـي المحلي و العربي الذي تغـاضى عُنـوةً و قسراً عـن مشـاكل غـرب البـلاد لسنين طويلـة ، و تزييفـه للواقـع و نقله كما تريـد الجماعـة الحاكمـة، و ثانيـاً لعـدم التـأريخ المفصَّـل بصورة كافيـة لتلك المأسـاة و توثيقهـا من قِبـل من عـاشوهـا لانشغـالهـم إلـى اليـوم بأمر الحرب و سعيهـم وراء مطالبهـم ، لكن يجب أن تتوفـر لكـل حكايةٍ بداية و تجـيء "بدايات" حكاية دارفور حسـب المصـادر المتاحـة الآن – و المحدودةِ جداً- علـى نحـو مـا يلي :
زعموا أنّ الصـراع بدأ بين قبيلتـين حـول الأرض و المـاء ، إحداهمـا صاحبـةُ الأرض و تشتغـل في الزراعـة و الأخـرى من البدو الرحّـل الذيـن يسرحـون ببهائمهم بحثـاً عـن المراعـي ، و همـا بالطبـع مختلفتـانِ عرقيـاً كمـا تدل مبدئياً مهنـة كـلٍّ منهمـا، لكن من هـذا السبب فقـط لا يمكـن أن نحكـم علـى الحـرب هناك بأنـهـا وليـدةُ رحـمِ العرقيـات ، لأنـه و لهذا السبب بالذات يمكـن أن تنشـب الحرب بين أي قبيلتـين حتـى لو كـانت جذورهمـا الإثنيـة متشابكـة عنـد منتهـاهـا ، لكـن هـذا السبب – الصراع حول الموارد- يُمـكن أن يعتبـر بمثابـة الزيــت الذي اتقـدت عليـه النـار فيمـا بعـد .
آخرون زعمـوا أنّ الأزمـة مرتبطـة بحرب الجنـوب، و التـي يتطلـب الحديـث عنهـا مقـالاً منفصـلاً عن هذا ، و مـا أسبـاب حـرب الجنـوب ببعيدةٍ عـن أسبـاب أختهـا دارفور ، عِلمـاً بأن ثلاثَ الجهـات : الحركات المسلحـة في دارفور ، الحكومـة السودانية ، و المسيحيـون و الوثنيـون في الجنوب ، تلاقـوا دفعـةً واحدة غيـرَ مـرةٍ في اشتباكـاتٍ عنيفـة .
لكـن مـا التفّـت حولـه معظـم الآراء هـو أنّ الأزمـة معقودةٌ بمجيء عهد الإنقـاذ عندما اعتلى عرش الحكـم عام 1989 م،ممارسـاً الإقصـاء السياسي لكـل غيـرِ عربـيٍّ من هياكـل حكومتـه ، و ما اكتـفـت الحكومـة بذلك ، بـل وصـل الأمـر إلـى إهمـال المناطـق المأهولـة بغيـر العـرب أو ما أُطلِق عليهـم " الزُّرقـة " و عـدم توفيـر حتـى الضروريات المعيشيـة لهـم ، هـذه المحاصصـات في توزيـع مناصـب الحكومـة و مـوارد المنطقـة أدّت مـع مرور الزمـن لأن يضـيـق إنسـانُ دارفـور ذرعـاً فتمخضـت عـن احتجاجاتـه مجموعـات تنـادي بحقوقهـا من خلـف البنـادق و الصـواريخ ، فنشأت الكثيـر من الحركـات المسلحـة المُقاوِمـة للحكومـة، أبرزهـا : الجبهـة الثوريـة السودانيّـة ، حركـة العـدل و المسـاواة ، و حركـة التحرير و العـدل ، مدعومـةً من تشـاد ، إرتريـا ، ليبيـا ، أوغنـدا ، و جنـوب السـودان . و كـان عـام 2003 م هـو الميـلاد الرسمـي لحـرب دارفـور.
موقـف الحكومـة السـودانيـة تجـاه الحركـات المسلحـة :
استخدمت الحكومـة - متذرعـةً بمحاربـة الحركـات المسلّحـة- ما أسمته سياسـة ( اقتل العبد بالعبد ) ، ، لكـن جيـش الحكومـة لـم يكـن مكافئـاً لتلـك الحركـات لا عدداً و لا عتـاداً ، نسبـةً لتفرُّقـِهِ في الجنـوب و الشـرق لنفس الأسبـاب الأمنية ، و خسـر غيـرَ مـرةٍ عنـدمـا وقعـت بينهمـا الاشتباكـات ؛ فالتكتيـك الذي انتهجتـه الحركـات المسلحـة أشبـه مـا يكـون بحـرب العصـابـات ، حيث تشُـنُّ غـارات سريعـة و متفرقـة و تتخـذ من تضاريس المنطقـة مخابئ لهـا ، و هـذا الأسلـوب كشـف عـن عدم توفـر الخبـرة الكافيـة لقوات الحكومـة ، أهـم تلـك الغـارات هـي غـارة الفاشـر و التـي هاجمـت فيهـا الحركـات المسلحـة موقـعـاً عسكريـاً فجـر الخامـس و العشريـن من إبريـل 2003 م ، و ألحقـت بالقوات العسكريـة هزيمـةً نكـراء لـم يحصـل مثلهـا في تاريخ حرب حكومـة الإنقـاذ مـع الجنـوب .
قامت الحكومـة بعـد ذلك بتكويـن فرقـةٍ خـاصـة موجّهـة – بدعومـات من الصيـن و إيـران ذلك الوقـت - للعـراك مـع هذه الحركـات و لممارسـة التطهيـر العرقـي في نفـس الوقـت ، فكوّنت فرقـة الجنجويـد و الذيـن هـم عـرب قبيلـة البقّـارة ، الذيـن استأجرتـهم قبل ذلك الحكومـة – مثلمـا استأجرت المراحيـل للحـرب في الجنـوب - لدحـر انتفاضـة المساليـت التي استمرت حتـى عـام 1999 م و لنفس الأسبـاب أيضـاً ، و بالرغـم من النفـي الإعـلامـي للحكومـة دعـمَ هذه المليشيـا إلا أن قواتٍ عسكريـة داخـل دارفـور وصفـت الجانجويد بأنـهم قـوة شبـه عسكريّـة متكاملـة!.
الحكومـة تفرغـت بعـد ذلك لتلميـع دورهـا في الحـرب بمسـاندةٍ من الإعـلام و كبار المشائخ الإسـلاميين ، و رسم صـورةٍ مغايـرة لحرب دارفور في أذهـان الشماليين و بقيـة السودانيين ، و لا أُنكر أن عـدداً كبيراً من السودانيين – حتى المتعلمين و المثقفين منهـم - تعاملوا مـع ذلك الجحيم الأرضي ، جحيم دارفور ، بدرجات متفاوتة من الإنكـارو التجاهـل ، و كثير من الشماليين تعاملوا مـع الموضـوع بنـوعٍ من اللامبالاة ، مخدَّرين بسُـم التعنصُـر الذي حقنتـه الحكومـة في النيـل و دسَّته في كتب التعليـم ، و تتناسل أكـاذيبها المفضوحـة بأن النزاع برمّتـه نزاع قبلي حـول الموارد الشحيحـة ضُخِّـم بوساطـة الولايـات المتحدة الأمريكيـة في مؤامـرةٍ لتشويـه الإسـلام و تقسيـم السـودان و لفـت الأنظـار عـن العـراق و فلسطيـن، تاركـةً سكّيـن العنصـريـة بين الجنجويـد و الحركـات المسلحـة تمشـي و تجـيء في عنـق دارفـور حتـى اليـوم .
متى تنتهـي الحرب ؟
دارفور، مهـد الحضـارات الإفريقـية الإسـلاميـة ، عاشت الجحيـم في الأرض بفضـل جمـاعـةٍ متأسلمـة حكمـت البـلاد ثلاثيـن عامـاً نجحـت خلالهـا و بامتيـاز في غـرس بذور العنصريـة و الطبقيـة الإثنيـة في أذهـان الشعـوب السـودانيـة و علـى أجيـالٍ مختلفـة ، طمعـاً منهـا في السلطـة و ترفعـاً منهـا بأنـهـا هـي الأولـى بالحكـم ، الحـرب في دارفـور هـي حـرب عرقيـة بامتيـاز ، مثلهـا مثـل حـرب الجنـوب ، و مثلهـا مثـل النزاعات في شرق البلاد ، حـرب سايكولوجيـة في المقـام الأول . متـى تنتهـي حرب دارفور ؟ أم أنهـا ستسجـل أرقـامـاً قياسيـةً مثل حرب الجنـوب باعتبارهـا من أطول الحروب في القـارة الإفريقيـة ؟
