I am a Norwegian translator based in Oslo, Norway, with skills in Spanish and English as my main languages.
In my day to day job I work with Process Management and Project Management within the IT sector in large, international companies like Astrup Fearnleys, Aker Solutions, CA and Statkraft.
I have worked within the IT sector since I graduated in 1999, but I have always loved travelling, learning about new cultures and languages.
I have worked with English as my main work language throughout my entire career, but I have also worked with Spanish speaking customers and helped with translations and interpretations regularly.
In 1991/1992 my family hosted a Canadian girl for a 1 year exchange student program. We taught her Norwegian and she taught us English.
I learned Spanish in Costa Rica, Central America, when I attended an AFS exchange student program back in 1993. I lived in a local host family and attended public high school. Since then I have travelled back many times, as I love Costa Rica, to visit my host family and friends, and I have also travelled many other Spanish speaking countries. I practice my Spanish skills regularly communicating with my host family and friends that I made when I lived in Costa Rica, but also with Spanish speaking friends that I have made throughout all the years after then.
Through my work career I have been able to work abroad for shorter periods.
In 1995 I lived and worked in Montréal, QC, Canada. I worked as a volunteer for AFS International Canada and AFS Quebec. My work languages were English and French. I studied French for 3 years and then chose Montreal both to be able to learn more French, but also to learn more English and spend more time with the Canadian girl that lived with my family for 1 year.
In 2008 I worked for Aker Solutions and I was sent to Houston, TX, USA, to work on a project for a couple of months. My work language was English.
in 2012 I worked for CA and was sent to The Hague, The Netherlands to work on a project for KPN International and this also made me want to learn Dutch.
These have all been great experiences and I love travelling. I love languages and I love communicating. I have visited almost all the European countries and many of the countries in The Americas. I will never stop travelling and learning and working on translations and interpretations is a nice way of travelling when I am stationary at home with my day job :)
