Granlibro’s Founding Principle
At Granlibro we aim to help people who want to live, and work overseas head out into the world and realize their dreams.
There are many people who aspire to live abroad. However, there are several language, employment and cultural barriers, leading a lot of people to give up. Although they want to live and work abroad, they can’t. As a solution, we started an online language service. This service is not only a service for students to experience a foreign culture while studying language, but also for tutors to learn about different cultures through foreign students, connecting them to the first step of their lives abroad.
Granlibro would like to support students and tutors working together to realize their dreams.

Service Outline
The contents of this guide will cover the "Individual Support service" which is a separate service from Granlibro’s standard service (see website). The Individual Support service is designed for people who cannot study their target language with Granlibro’s standard service. Rather than making an online booking through the Granlibro website, after a consultation, the student will be connected with a tutor who is a native speaker of their target language.
In addition, there is a possibility that a language which is currently implemented in the Individual Support service will become part of the standard service in the future. In this case, the customer will be contacted with additional information as the service varies.
The content of the Individual Support service is like that of Granlibro’s standard service, you can receive language guidance from a native speaking tutor. You can connect via Skype (or other SNS) with tutors from around the world on your PC or device and partake in conversation and grammar lessons. You and your tutor can decide how to proceed with teaching materials and lessons flexibly. One lesson is an hour, and the classroom is wherever you are most comfortable. There is no designated time for each lesson, so you can organize a lesson time that suits you and your tutor.

We offer lessons for all language, so please contact us.
You can study major languages such as English and Chinese with many learners, or comparatively minor languages with less opportunities to learn such as Russian or Arabic. We hope to contribute to more people's dreams with our diverse range of services.
Student Requirements
• A PC or Tablet that can connect to the internet
• Skype (with registered Skype account)
• Provide either a PayPal account (PayPal registered email address), or bank account details for payment of fees
• Student registration form
Lesson Content
There will be one lesson provided per week (four times per month).
Lessons do not have a set curriculum; you will consult with your tutor about how you want your study to commence and set a study plan together. During the first lesson, please notify your tutor of your language level, any learning needs and your expectations for future lessons.
It is also possible to ask your tutor language questions, or to request them to review your work outside of lesson time through Skype messenger (depending on the content, we may take time to reply. We do not support calls with tutors outside of Skype lesson hours).

e.g.1) Students with prior knowledge of their target language
Conversation practice via Skype is the main part of the lesson. By speaking to natives, you learn natural expressions and get used to the natural speed of a native speaker. Additionally, If the student doesn’t understand things like grammar or their textbook then they can ask their tutor as needed. We will focus on explaining things during the Skype lesson that are difficult to understand grammatically. You will also provide things you’re interested in associated with your target language such as songs, or current trends, and study the grammar and culture surrounding them.
e.g.2) Beginner language learners
Lessons for beginners are based around commercial study materials aimed at beginners. The tutor will purchase study materials, then progress through the book with the student, focusing on conversation practice, and grammar.
Study Materials
Students may study their preferred study materials. There are no strict rules, so if there’s a method of study you’d like to try, please be proactive in consulting your tutor.
(e.g. exchanging opinions of newspaper articles or news, famous songs, popular movies, magazines related to actors or models, media information, local travel guidebooks or phrasebooks etc.)
Means of Contacting Tutors
Please decide on a means of contact with your tutor along with the time and date of the next lesson. Once the means of contact have been decided, please use this to ask questions, request any corrections, etc. outside of lesson times.

With Granlibro’s Individual Support service support is not limited to within lesson times. You can ask your tutor any questions, or request corrections at any time (same as the standard service). If there is anything you don’t understand, we can assist you with your studies.
4. Flexible lessons
With Granlibro’s Individual Support service, students and tutors organize a study plan to suit the student's learning goals. e.g. Focus on studying grammar. Memorizing simple expressions useful for travel. Conversation practice. Using newspapers to discuss global or local current events and political issues. There are a great variety of things to study such as current trends or even learning songs in your target language.
5. Flexible schedule
Lesson bookings for Granlibro's Individual Support service are organized between the student and the tutor. As a result, students can organize a lesson time that suits their current schedule.
Preparing for the First Lesson
1. The tutor will send a request for contact to the customers Skype ID before the first lesson. Please accept this in advance.
2. A time and date for the first lesson will be designated by the tutor via Skype.
3. Please consult with the tutor about how to book lessons, and a means of contact for after the first lesson.
Service Rates
There is a set rate of 10,000 Yen (excluding tax) per month for all languages.
Payment Methods
Payment can be made via PayPal or bank transfer. Customers sending money from outside of Japan must use PayPal, customers residing in Japan can pay via either bank transfer or PayPal (Any handling charges are the customers responsibility).
For new customers, payment must be made by the day of the first lesson, continuing payments must be made by the first lesson of the following month.
Fee Payment
We will notify the customer of our PayPal or bank account details after the time and date of the first lesson has been decided.
Service Satisfaction Survey
To help us improve our service, we have implemented a service satisfaction survey that we would like you to fill out once a month. We will provide a resignation confirmation form if the customer wishes to resign from the course.
NB: If you want to cancel your lesson or change the lesson time after booking, please contact your tutor and change your time.
