Afrika a 21. században gazdasági, politikai, szociális értelemben felértékelődőben van. Az eddig (főként a globális média által) közvetített főként sztereotip képhez képest a kontinens számos lehetőséget kínál a vele együttműködő partnerek számára (partnerségről szól többek között az Európai Unió Afrika-stratégiája is). Természetesen a realitás azt a képet vázolja, amelyben a kontinensről Európába, ezáltal Magyarországra is hatást gyakorló migráció eddig ismeretlen kihívások elé állít bennünket. Ezek a kihívások természetüknél fogva egyrészt kizárják az egyetlen állam által kínált megoldást, azaz szükséges az államok és az egyéb típusú szereplők közötti szoros együttműködés, mind szociális, egészségügyi, kulturális, illetve mind gazdasági és politikai vonalakon, másrészt csakis akkor vezethet eredményre, ha lehetővé teszi a különböző tudományos területek és diszciplínák közötti összhangot és kooperációt.
Szakmai szempontból a Kutatóközpont célja, hogy legyen hazánkban olyan kutatási potenciál, s ennek kifejlesztésével párhuzamosan olyan szakemberképzés, amely képes kinevelni olyan személyeket, akik értik és ismerik Afrika problémáit, egyben lehetőségeit. Ezáltal gazdagíthatják a magyar tudományos teljesítmények sorát e vonatkozásban is. Ehhez a Központ, valamint az általa tervezett BA minor szak, valamint a természetes együttműködés a PTE BTK Történettudományi Intézet „Kapcsolódó kontinensek” elnevezésű akkreditált mesterszakkal, továbbá az ELTE Afrikanisztika mesterszakkal megfelelő hátteret adhat.
A mai Afrika és az afrikai politikai-gazdasági viszonyok és átalakulások megértéséhez sokoldalú, diszciplínák közötti társadalomtudományi ismeretekre és tudásokra van szükség (mind inter-, mind multidiszciplináris tudásra). Ezt figyelembe véve a Kutatóközpont a PTE valamennyi, Afrikával foglalkozó munkatársát, oktatási, kutatási egységét bevonja a munkába.
A tervezett Kutatóközpont elősegíti a legfrissebb kutatási eredmények elterjesztését a tágabb értelemben vett közép-európai régió vonatkozó kül-, gazdaság- és biztonságpolitikáinak, fejlesztési politikáinak megalkotási folyamatában. Összekapcsolja a felsőoktatást a munka világával, szem előtt tartva az eredmények hasznosíthatóságát. A felsőoktatás oldaláról új forrásokat aknáz ki, elsősorban a nemzetközi kutatási források elnyerésével.
A Központ jelentőséggel bír a magyar felsőoktatásban, hiszen az első ilyen jellegű kutatási centrum. A PTE életében továbbá fontos, hogy hozzájárul a Globális Dél teljesebb körű kutatásához – a PTE Ibero-Amerika Központ, a PTE TTK Földrajzi Intézet Ázsia Központ, a PTE Kelet-Mediterrán és Balán Tanulmányok Központja, valamint a PTE ÁJK Európa Központ tevékenységét kiegészítve, azokkal universitas szinten együttműködve. Így válhat teljessé az Észak-Dél reláció és a fejlődő világ kutatása, mindez az országban a PTE-n valósulhat meg ilyen összetetten. Amennyiben a PTE a közeljövőben nemzetközi kapcsolatok szakot kíván indítani, e körrel teljes lefedettséget képes adni, ezáltal az országban unikális tanulmányi programot tud kínálni.
Már létező és folyamatosan bővülő nemzetközi kapcsolataink tovább építésével, összehasonlító vizsgálatokkal, új metodológiák elsajátítását célzó tréningekkel, szakmai konferenciákkal, kiállításokkal, szellemi műhelyekkel (workshopokkal) az a végső célunk, hogy Magyarország és a tágabb összefüggésben Kelet-Közép-Európa meghatározó szereplőjévé váljunk az Afrika-kutatás és az afrikanisztika terén.
Translation - English The Research Centre
Africa is becoming important economically, politically and socially in the 21st century. The global media has been mainly broadcasting stereotyped images which cannot be compared to the many opportunities offered by the continent to its collaborating partners (the European Union’s Africa Strategy is also one of them). Of course, the reality of the matter is illustrated by the picture of the immigration from the African continent to Europe which is also affecting Hungary and has claimed to be a great challenge to us. These challenges naturally, on the one hand, exclude the solution offered by a single state, that is to say, there is need for close cooperation between states and other types of organizations such as social, health, cultural, or rather, economical and political bodies. On the other hand, there can only be a solution if there is consistency and cooperation between different scientific domains and disciplines.
From a professional point of view, the Research Centre aims to have a research potential in our country, that is in parallel with its development and has a professional training which is able to educate people who understand and know Africa's problems, and also the opportunities that Africa offers. This will hereby enrich the range of Hungarian scientific achievements in this regard as well. To do this, the centre can, by its planned BA minor program, provide the right background for the PTE Faculty of Humanities, Institute of History Sciences accredited Master's degree in „Related Continents” and furthermore, the African Studies department of ELTE Master’s studies by collaborating with these institutions.
There is need for interdisciplinary social sciences knowledge and skills (both inter- and multidisciplinary) in order to understand the diversity of today’s Africa, and the relation between African political and economical situation as well as their transformations. Taking this into account, the Research Centre involves all PTE employees in teaching and research units whose work concern Africa.
The proposed Research Centre will facilitate the dissemination of the latest results in the process of creating the relevant foreign, economic, security and development policies of the wider Central European region. The centre combines higher education with practical work in companies or institutions bearing in mind the probability of utilization of the achievements. The Centre is exploiting new resources from higher education institutions, primarily through the acquisition of international research resources.
The Centre is very significant in Hungarian higher education since it is the first research centre of its kind. It is also important for PTE university to contribute to the more extensive research of the Global South - complemented by the work of the PTE Ibero-America Centre, the PTE Faculty of Natural Sciences Geographical Institute, the Asian Centre, the PTE Centre for East Mediterranean and Balkan Studies as well as the PTE Faculty of Law’s European Centre, all of which provide university level team work. In this way, the research of the North-South relation and that of the developing world can be completed, all this getting done in the country through PTE’s multiple work. If PTE wishes to launch an international relations department in the near future, it will be able to offer full coverage in this field, thus offering a unique study program in the country.
Our ultimate goal in building the existing and continuously expanding international relations, comparative studies, trainings aimed at learning new methodologies, professional conferences, exhibitions and workshops is to become a key player in African research and African studies domain both in Hungary and in the broader context of Central and Eastern Europe.

Bio
I am a native of the Swahili language and I have a mastery of the English, French and Hungarian languages. I have an advanced level of German language, an Elementary level in Finnish and a beginner's level in Spanish languages. I am a linguist who is passionate about facilitating cross-cultural relations and activities through translation.
Swahili and English are official languages in Kenya. I learned French in high school in Kenya and thereafter did courses in French at Alliance Française de Nairobi, Kenya for 4 years. In addition to this, I stayed in Paris, France for a period of 5 years and attended courses at the Paris 3 Sorbonne Nouvelle and Inalco.
I have a BA degree in Hungarian Studies from the University of Pécs, Hungary. I translated Hungarian literature by Mándy Iván(ISBN: 9631135098) in the Hungarian-Swahili language pair at Balassi Institute, Budapest where I attended a one year of training in translation. I stayed in Hungary for a duration of 6 years.
I attained a B2 level of German language from the Goethe Institut in Budapest, Hungary. I also stayed in Germany for 9 months. I worked as an intern in translation for a church in Germany. As for the Finnish language, it was part of my studies in the University of Pécs, Hungary. Moreover, I studied in a summer language school in Finland for 3 weeks. My Spanish language is self-taught as a hobby. My other hobby is to organize French discussions on Zoom between friends in Paris and Alliance Française students in Nairobi preparing for the DALF C1 exam.
